About the Project

Years ago I was collecting and painting my Ogre Kingdoms army for Warhammer. But then the End Times and Age of Sigmar happenend and I totaly lost all interest in finishing the army. So all of my unpainted models were put in a box and shelfed. With the resurrection of Warhammer through the Old World I got interested again and tempted in an new army (Grand Cathay) and bought all the models. I'm currently glueing all the models. Then there was the monthly painting competition with the 'Chonky' theme and I thought I could finish an Ogre model for this. This led to the idea of finaly finishing my Ogre Kingdoms army for this years Spring Clean Challenge. They are not an official Old World army, but can be played as a Legacy army. When all models are painted I'm going to add blood/gore/tattoos on all old and newly finished models to tie them together.

Today I finished the 2nd Tyrant, this is the new sculpt from a couple of years ago. I think it also came on a round base, but I changed this to a square one.

This time around is one of the newer models, first issued for Age of Sigmar. I did put in on a square base, so it would match my other models for the Old World.

My next model I painted is some terrain which helps (I think) with Magic. The Great Mawpot.

Only five models to go, the Bloodpelt hunter and the new Tyrant are almost done, so I hope I will finish them all before the end of the challenge.

Finished another model, this time it is the Pirate Maneater. It’s a nice model and realy like the quirky Gnoblar dressed like a parrot on his shoulder.

Only six more to go and then all my Ogre models are painted.

Next up is the Mournfang Cavalary. I think the models have a litlle bit of a strange look. The Ogres are placed strange on the animals, kind of like they are sitting on a throne upon the back of the beasts. The are not riders but more like passangers. That said, here are some pictures.

And here is a group shot.

My next model I finished for the Ogres is the Female Maneater.

She’s looking at her best in her leopardskin top and fishnet stockings.

Last week I finaly found the last missing unit for this army on Marktplaats for a ‘reasonable price’, I paid € 75,- for Greasus Goldtooth. I have already assembled the model and now have to fill some gaps before I can prime it. I’m currently also working on the Mournfang cavalery, the beasts are already finished, only the riders to do.

The beauty of multi-purpose kits by Games Workshop is that you are left with a whole lot of extra bits to kit-bash. This inspired me (years ago) to make a Army Standard for the Ogre Kingdoms. Yesterday I have finaly finished it.

It’s made up by bits from the Thundertusk/Stonehorn boxes and flags from Bulls/Gluttons. The Ogre is from the Ironblaster/Scraplauncher kit.

I realy like his arogant pose, as if he wants to shout out: “Bring it on, bitches!”.

I also tried out some simple freehanding on the banner.
