Ciaphas Cain Finally Gets A Warhammer 40,000 Miniature!
June 22, 2026 by brennon
Games Workshop will be taking pre-orders for a new set of miniatures this weekend, including some vehicle-based reinforcements for Warhammer 40,000. We start, however, with Ciaphas Cain finally getting a miniature alongside his long-suffering companion, Jurgen!
Ciaphas Cain & Jurgen - Diorama // Warhammer 40,000
Daring leader, expert duellist, a beloved Commissar (not something that you can say about many Commissars!) and potentially the luckiest man in the Imperium. Ciaphas Cain has been an iconic hero from the pages of Black Library for many years and he is now available to pick up as a swaggering and smirking miniature from this weekend.
As well as Cain, the set also comes with a plastic miniature of his loyal aide, Jurgen. Cain is dressed in his traditional Commissar's garb, whilst Jurgen is clad in the uniform of the Valhallans, the Astra Militarum regiment that Cain served with faithfully for many years.
Ciaphas Cain & Jurgen // Warhammer 40,000
Cain comes with his chainsword and laspistol, whilst Jurgen is carrying around his trusty meltagun, which will help keep the enemy off his Commissar's back. The pair will come with individual bases so that you can base them as you see above. You will also get a diorama-sized base so that you can have both Cain and Jurgen back to back.
As well as the new miniatures for Ciaphas Cain and Jurgen, you will also be able to get a new illustrated and annotated edition of For the Emperor.
For The Emperor - Illustrated Edition // Black Library
This hardback novel will be available while stocks last and comes with plenty of new artwork and illustrations alongside notes from Inquisitor Vail and the author, Sandy Mitchell. Dive into some of the iconic antics that Ciaphas Cain got embroiled in as part of the struggle between the Imperium and the T'au Empire.
New Astra Militarum Vehicles
Sticking with the Astra Militarum, we also have some individual releases coming out for a couple of vehicles that initially came out as part of the Armageddon releases and the run-up to 11th Edition.
Centaur RSV // Warhammer 40,000
We start with the Centaur RSV, which is a new transport option for the Astra Militarum. The Centaur Rapid Strike Vehicle can carry plenty of troops into the heart of the action (whether they like it or not) but it also comes with plenty of space above and to the sides where you can shoot at your foes on the approach.
The second of the vehicles is just as fast but introduces some more firepower into the equation. When you can't requisition a Rogal Dorn, the Hippogriff AFV might be a good option instead.
Hippogriff AFV // Warhammer 40,000
The Hippogriff Armoured Fighting Vehicle can get across the battlefield at a good clip and comes armed with options like the vigilator cannon, the chiron gatling cannon, a melta cannon or a leavy lascannon. This means that it could well deal with threats, both armoured and unarmoured, from key points on the battlefield.
All of these new Astra Militarum-styled releases will be coming up for pre-order this weekend, so make sure to keep an eye out when they go live on Saturday.
Are you going to be getting the new Ciaphas Cain miniature?

I don’t think I’ve read any books with Ciaphas Cain. But I stopped reading those when G’Wullu chose to do translations themselves and drop the publisher Heyne who did a stunning job so far.
The Cain books are *very* good
I gotta get on Cain’s books; I’ve only ever heard praise for them.
As for the vehicles, the Centaur looks decent, but I just cannot square with the Hippogriff. A lot of the Imperium’s newer stuff is starting to look less “brutal” and a little too “sleek ‘n modern” for my taste.
I really enjoyed the cain books, I cant say i like the sculpt of him though, the face looks very “plant of the apes” ape like.
s for the vehicles, i quite like the hippogriff, very cold war western armoured car feel that to me isnt out of place, the centaur is just wierd through and for me that M3/M5 halftrack look just doesnt fit or make sense.
The Cain books are fantastic, they are the right kind of funny but gripping writing that is really enjoyable.
I do echo the planet of the ape look to them but i bet people will be able to come up with some great looks for them.
Kinda goofy sculpts, I agree, but I do love these book character releases; glad they did them as a pair. The books are a must-read.
