Adeptus Custodes Pre-Orders Hit This Week For Warhammer 40,000

Games Workshop aren't waiting around to drop the pre-orders for the new plastic miniatures coming to Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: The Horus Heresy for the Adeptus Custodes/Legio Custodes. More elite troops are on the way alongside the new Codex for Warhammer 40,000.

Aquilon Terminator Sodality // Warhammer 40,000

Leading the way, we have the new Aquilon Terminators. This is the finest armour that the Imperium has to offer, worn by the finest warriors. These six Aquilon Terminators can be used in Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer: The Horus Heresy (as with everything that you're going to see here) and can be armed with Lastrum storm bolters, infernus firepikes, adrathic combi-destructors and then the solarite power gauntlet or power talon.

I think they look suitably powerful but I feel like they're missing something. They feel a bit too wooden and awkward, as if they could trip over and slam into the ground at a moment's notice. It would have been nice to see them in the minute before they start slicing their way through their enemies.

Next up, we have the Gyrfalcon Jetbike Sodality.

These fast vehicles allow the Adeptus Custodes to get to where they need to be and deal with both infantry and vehicles with the same degree of lethality. You can arm these miniatures with the classic solarite power lance but also the Lastrum bolt cannon, adrathic devastator, arachnus volley cannon or the Corvae las-pulser. All of these weapons do different jobs from mopping up infantry to punching holes in tanks. They are very much a Swiss Army Knife within the Adeptus Custodes.

If you really need your enemies to vanish in a puff of crimson then how about the new plastic version of the Telemon Heavy Dreadnought?

Place your greatest warrior in one of these and allow them to keep on killing in the name of the Emperor. The new plastic kit comes with loads of different cosmetic options for you to choose from, including the Telemon's caestus fists. They can also be fitted with the adrathic desolator, the arachnus storm cannon or the Iliastus accelerator culverin. Someone at Games Workshop is having a lot of fun naming these weapons and then getting other people to write them...

Last but not least, we have the Pallas Grav-Attack.

These are agile hunter-killer vehicles that can be deployed when the jetbikes aren't going to cut it. It is a proper workhorse of a tank within the Adeptus Custodes or Legio Custodes army and can be armed with a couple of different weapon options for dealing with whatever comes your way. You can either go with the arachnus blaze cannon or the twin Iliastus accelerator fusil.

New Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol

If you're deciding that you want to start out with the Adeptus Custodes in Warhammer 40,000, you can also get a new Combat Patrol.

This comes with a Shield-Captain, six Sentinel Guard, three Venatari and a Custodian Dreadnought that can also be built to suit the Contemptor-Achillus or Contemptor-Galatus patterns. Whilst good for Combat Patrol, this could also be a good way for you to begin your Warhammer: The Horus Heresy collection, as it comes with all of the core stuff you're going to want.

Adeptus Custodes Codex & Accessories

All of these new miniatures need new rules and that's where the new Codex comes in for 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000.

As with all Codexes, this will feature all of the new lore for the Adeptus Custodes plus your rules. You can get the standard softback edition of the Codex or go for the Collector's Edition, which comes in hardback. There is also a Limited Edition set...

This comes in faux leather alongside a metal Custodian vexilla, lapel pin, dice in a wooden dice vault, art prints, a cloth map and the full Adeptus Custodes Command Pack. I'm sure this will be entirely reasonably priced.

The Command Packs for 11th Edition come with all of your detachment rules, enhancements, stratagems and army rules, plus double-sided tokens which are handy for keeping track of in-game effects. You can also get the set of black dice with gold designs, including the faction logo on the six.
