Mornin’ … It’s Nikolaus! My wife gifted me a small Death Star II from Ban Dai 8)
😀 hmmm I want more taai taai, pepernoten, chocolate letters … should be cheap now.
I finished the Kingdom Death Lonely Tree expansion and with that done I’ve finished all the models I set out to do at the start of the year. Project entry here: https://www.ontabletop.com/project/1467945/

It’s Thursday my fellow flockians. I’m currently trying to figure out on how to put an LED into a tiny, tiny deathstar and am failing at the simple step of “how much bloody volts and parts do I need” XD Just wiring up a 3v button cell isn’t good enough for a green LED .
This is going to take some time.
For a single green LED, it really should be (is it a round button type CR2032 or CR2016 or something?). Is your battery fresh? Is it one of those 10-on-a-card-for-a-euro jobbies, or a proper branded battery?
You could aways put a resistor inline (about 220 ohms) and that’d let you power it through a 5v phone charger or three AA batteries in series. If you’re connecting more than one LED, you’ll probably need some clever electronics, since they all have different voltage drop and you can’t just wire them all together in parallel (in series, maybe, but they you’ll need a much larger voltage to power them).
But a single green LED *should* light up from a CR2032 just by pressing the legs to either side of the battery.
Well it lights up but depending on the angle of the legs on the battery it’s green or greenish yellow. And yes, those are the cheap 2032/2016 from “poundland”. I measured 1.9V on the LED but thinking of it, those are 5+ years old. Maybe a simple new set would to a better job.
Almost certainly. The voltage drop across an LED is around 1.6v – 2.1v depending on colour (blue is at the heavier end, red lighter and I guess green somewhere in the middle). At 1.9v you’re probably right on the edge of it having enough voltage to light up anyway! Get yourself some new batteries ?
