Yes: A wing from a Dragon, the front leg of someone formerly known as Demon Prince, a Giant’s club and the lower torso of a Blood Angels chaplain, et voilá – a Chaos Spawn no one else owns…..

The bitz service still exists – it is just provided by hundreds of independent traders through eBay these days.  Any piece you might want can usually be found with an easy search.  I saw a conversion I really liked on the Stuff of Legends site the other day – The Ice Queen of Kislev mounted on Tyrion’s horse.

I was looking for a suitable sorceress model for my new project and this will do nicely.  Found all the bits on eBay for about £40.  Expensive for some, but the cost of things is relative to each individual.  If you value it sufficiently at the price you have to pay then it isn’t expensive to you.

Indeed, eBay is out there. It’s very cost prohibitive especially in Canada, as shipping from US or UK kills. So rarely do I find a Canadian seller. No idea what is up with USPS but their rates are bonkers. Coupled with eBay sellers who used to be individuals but are now volume pushers, I’ve had recent bad purchase experiences with eBay. Ordered metal pestigors, got Khorne command instead. Complete failure. Did get 100% reimbursement and have two Khorne models now that are in a bitz bin.
    still no pestigors…

Quoting Eric of Eric’s Hobby Workshop – excellent TheirTube channel, btw – Fleabay do have some pretty eye-watering prices at times, unless you get REALLY lucky or you’re looking for something nobody else has wanted in 20 years.

Bitzboxes…ah yes…. I used to love to go to game stores and dig through their bitz boxes, drawers full of forgotten stuff and find all kinds of treasure they sold for next to nothing. Ships for Man O’War (1st edition), plastic Wood- Elf archers and High Elf spearman from 4th/5th edition WHFB, lost of Grenadier oddments and endments – including 2 or 3 complete Dragons made of lead, I think a good 60-70% of my Empire army came out of bitz boxes, including the 12 Dwarf Thunderers I’m painting right now. Yes, they will fight for the Empire, along with 12 plastic Human gunners from 6th edition and 2 lead giant Orcs dressed in Renaissance gear, wielding matchlock guns (manufacturer unknown) I’m going to transform into Ogres, all also bitz box finds.

No such stores exist anymore in my area, the 1 or 2 surviving game stores have all the atmosphere and charm of an airport cafeteria.
