Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

• We’re all getting older and our bodies decay. Aside from bad eyesight and hearing what is you body not letting you do any more that you loved to do in regards to the hobby?

Answer: So I can sit at the desk & PC for hours. Sitting and painting is also possible. But this weekend I tried playing video games on my Switch in handheld mode on my lap and even though the actual gaming was comfortable the moment I looked up my neck went “OUTCH” and it felt like I was in a car accident with some kind of trauma XD Not fun, can’t recommend XD

Surely you know that you can connect the Nintendo Switch to a regular monitor/tv ?

You’d think that with 14 days of not having to work I’d be making great progress on Plunder … but somehow I just can’t get started. Brain always finds something to distract me with. I’ve used up my Claude tokens doing other things, but instead of me switching to something else I find myself waiting for them to reset.

oh … I also have the Discworld RPG now. Fabricati Diem PVNK !

Yes, of course but that’s the fun of a mobile console. Not only playing sitting on the couch but anywhere.

otoh … a link under each image is a bit much.
A simple link with a disclosure notice at the bottom would be better and not quite as obnoxious.

Pledge:  Get ready and then go to Clash of Kings this weekend.  Excited and nervous in equal measure.

Answer:  I’m not in bad nick physically so there isn’t anything hobby related that my body stops me from doing.  I’d love to have the quality of vision that I used to have before 30+ years of intensive monitor use has taken away.  I can’t seem to find anything that can magnify a miniature as clearly as I used to be able to see them.  I used to do eyes on my 10mm characters.  Not any more 😀

Answer: I was going to say nothing except my eye sight but I  didn’t even notice the links under every picture until it was pointed out. Maybe my focus is narrowing.

Is there any benefit in buying from Wayland Games? Specifically if it will need to be mailed internationally.

They just started it doing yesterday and after the first article it was dialled back to “links under pictures of product boxes” and nothing under showcase pictures.

I find that a good approach. So I rarely have more then 10 minis “partially painted” on my desk at any time.  They all live in their boxes until their time has come XD

@gaz4170 I use Wayland regularly and find their prices very attractive and the service is excellent.  I’m in the UK so can’t comment on overseas shipping but the UK rate is very competitive.

I’ve tried a clear desk policy a few times in the past and when I clear it I always feel better for having done it.  However, I do find that the wandering enthusiasms and sudden interests that my hobby process is prone to do mean that things gradually accumulate on the desk.  I’ve got a few miniatures for 3 projects that aren’t the KoW one I’m actually working on.  Thanks to your prompt I’ll put them away this morning 🙂

ditto here … I’m sometimes so jealous of folk who can maintain focus on just the one hobby niche (like only doing 40k).

Heck, instead of attempting to finish some of my projects I’m already thinking of a possible Halloween thing I want to build.
