Yesterday I (and some other folk on OTT) got an email reading:

Thank you for applying to the Gundam Assemble – Online Zaku Painting Showcase.

We would like to offer you one of the European participant places, subject to confirming your eligibility, participation and shipping details.

I don’t know why but I am very excited. On discord one James suggested

Joint entry on the project system?

And while I like the idea in principle I feel a thread would work best for the WIP stuff to compare against each other.

Also I would like to use this thread to keep track of stuff like

    • What hashtags to use
    • What the deadlines are
    • Random information that pops up easily found for everybody

    I am so excited! 8)

    Work In Progress Posting Guidance

As part of the showcase, participants are required to share public Work In Progress posts, also known as WIP posts, during the build and painting process. These posts help show the journey behind your finished Zaku, allow the community to follow along, and help UKTC・PENCASE verify that entries have been created as part of this campaign.

    Suggested WIP post stages

    1. Unboxing / starting point – show the runner or early assembly stage and introduce your idea.
    2. Assembly / preparation – show the Zaku being built, cleaned, posed or prepared for painting.
    3. Primer / base colours – show the first major colour choices and explain the direction of your scheme.
    4. Mid-painting progress – show shading, highlighting, colour blocking, decals, panel lining, weathering or other detail work.
    5. Final details / almost finished – show the model close to completion before your final photos.

WIP posts must be posted publicly on at least one approved platform:

    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • TikTok
    • X/Twitter

    • Runner dispatch period: late August 2026.
    • Painting period: September to 31 September 2026.

Since we’re already 10 days into September I hope the competition gets moved a bit but I couldn’t find any infos on that. So as soon as the runners arrive I will put the pedal to the metal. “Floor it” as the kids say.
