Collect WW2 Heroes Of The Dutch Resistance With Bad Squiddo
October 23, 2026 by brennon
Bad Squiddo Games are now on Kickstarter with their newest collection of 28mm-scale miniatures for World War II, looking into some of the lesser-known and oft-forgotten heroes of the period. This time around, Bad Squiddo Games are focusing on the Heroes of the Dutch Resistance.
Heroes of the Dutch Resistance // Bad Squiddo Games
This is an extensive collection of 28mm scale single-piece pewter miniatures for the likes of Bolt Action, Chain of Command, V for Victory, 02 Hundred Hours and more. There are twenty brand-new miniatures in the collection, as well as some existing Dutch Resistance members in the form of Hannie Schaft, Truus Oversteegen and Freddie Oversteegen.
Annie has put a lot of work into this project and done extensive research on each of the individuals that were included in the range. You can actually find out more about it HERE. You can pledge for any combination of the packs on the Kickstarter or get all of them.
Bet van Beeren and Frieda Belinfante // Bad Squiddo Games
The sculpting for this project has come from Alan Marsh and John Morris, with the miniatures being painted by Tesseract Studios. Martin Whitmore then did the wonderful art that you'll see as part of the range.
Willem Arondeus and Sjoerd Bakker // Bad Squiddo Games
The collection features real-life heroes who did all sorts to fight back against occupation by the Nazis. For example, you've got Willem Arondeus and Sjerd Bakker. Arondeus organised the 1943 Municipal Register Bombing and Sjoerd Bakker was the one who crafted their police uniforms so they could sneak in.
Jan Bonekamp // Bad Squiddo Games
You've also got the likes of Jan Bonekamp, who began resistance rallying for strikes and raising money for those who were persecuted by the occupiers. You also have Kate ter Horst and Audrey Hepburn!
Kate ter Horst and Audrey Hepburn // Bad Squiddo Games
Kate ter Horst was the Angel of Arnhem who worked with the Allied troops when her home was turned into a field hospital. And yes, Hepburn in her younger years was a runner for the resistance!

As well as the characters you see here, you will also be able to pick up...
"Jan Bonekamp, Trien de Haan, Kate ter Horst, Audrey Hepburn, Willem Arondeus, Sjoerd Bakker, Bet van Beeren, Frieda Belinfante, Betty Oudkerk, Henriëtte Pimentel, Riet van Grunsven, Truus van Lier, Jacoba van Tongeren, Lau Mazirel, Violette Cornelius, Gerrit van der Veen, Johanna Scholten, Queen Wilhelmina, Corrie ten Boom and Casper ten Boom."
Quite a collection and all of them have a story to tell. If you're hoping to dive into a lesser-known corner of World War II, then these would be excellent miniatures to pick up. Not only could you put together interesting scenarios based around them and their exploits but they could hide in plain sight as "civilians" in your games who turn out to be so much more!
Make sure to go and check out the Kickstarter, as there's loads more for you to uncover about these real-life resistance fighters.

Well worth supporting such a unique take on WWII wargaming.
yep.
and as a lot of them are civilians they also fill that niche as well.
I suspect that the clothing they got would fit in WW1 and maybe even earlier as well.
