Tabletop Titan’s Stone Age Fantasy Game Wyldwood Hits Kickstarter

Tabletop Titans, one of the most well-known YouTube channels in wargaming, has now brought their own Fantasy skirmish game to Kickstarter for you to get stuck into. Wyldwood is a bit different from what you might expect, played with impressive 60mm-scale display-style miniatures and some interesting mechanics alongside them.

Gameplay // Wyldwood

Wyldwood can be played by two players, or you can go up to four if you prefer. Players will choose from one of five different factions and then dive into a fast, tactical, balanced wargame which pushes dice to the side and instead embraces the use of cards and your skill to win. No random bad rolling here!

Card Play // Wyldwood

When you dive into the game, you'll be picking your five champions and then a customised thirty-card deck. You then battle to be the first person to score ten points across six turns. Battle is done using the beautifully illustrated Command Cards for each faction, which are based around your characters, their abilities and the way they like to play. You can play around with and customise your deck of cards to then unlock new strategies and combinations until you've found the winning formula.

Wyldwood Gameplay

Diving into playing Wyldwood means that you'll need to pick your faction and then pick up their Faction Starter Set and the Faction Model Set. The Faction Starter Set comes with your rules, cards, Champion cards, tokens, a paper play mat and even terrain.

The Faction Model Set then comes with your five-to-seven multi-part display-size 60mm miniatures, crafted in Unicool hard plastic. Each of the figures within the Faction Model Sets is unique and comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, plus, of course, a chance for you to flex your painting skills! Miniatures for the Kickstarter are available physically but also as STL files if you'd prefer to go down the 3D printing route.

Wyldwood Factions

There are five factions for you to choose from when diving into the game.

Emberhold Ascended // Wyldwood

The Emberhold Ascended bring fire and industry to the wilds in order to try and conquer it. In-game, they use their flames and their various inventions to overwhelm their foes through control, pressure and an unyielding advance across the battlefield.

Leafsong Nomads // Wyldwood

In classic elven style, they live in harmony with the forest and use their unmatched range and speed in order to strike at their enemies and then fade away before you can get close to them. They are the fastest faction in the game and have access to the best ranged attacks. They can also call on the spirits of the forest to aid them during gameplay.

Perhaps you prefer the look of the Nightwood Covenant?

Nightwood Covenant // Wyldwood

These ancient, druidic orcs guard the forest and live in harmony with the creatures that dwell within it. They can draw on their ancestors and the power of the trees themselves in order to conquer their foes. When playing them, they can use powerful magic that disrupts the enemy and controls the battlefield. Unleash powerful area attacks and harness Wisps to unlock more options in gameplay.

If you prefer Dwarves, you can call on the might of the Urscar Kindred.

Urscar Kindred // Wyldwood

They are a powerful melee faction that will seek to sacrifice themselves in order to achieve victory. The Urscar hit incredibly hard in combat and are specialised at bringing down powerful unit due to the beasts that they hunt. They can even sell their lives to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

Last but not least, we have the Witherwood Legions.

The Witherwood Legions are created from the union of Wither trees and the skulls of fallen warriors. Very Heavy Metal. They spread death, decay and blight wherever they go. They are a relentless, slow-moving force that can hit like a truck in melee whilst also spreading poison and decay to punish their enemies.
