Wargamer Introduce More New Sets For By Fire & Sword Fans
October 27, 2026 by brennon
Wargamer introduced a whole bunch of new sets into the mix for the 15mm-scale 17th Century Historical wargame, By Fire & Sword. Lots of different nations get new miniatures, alongside some fun new terrain pieces to sit alongside them.
Tufekci // By Fire & Sword
We start off with the Ottoman Turks and their Tufekci, a name which comes from the Turkish tüfeng-musket. These were troops armed with long firearms, which essentially made them the equivalent of the Western European musketeers. They were, as their armaments would suggest, suited to long-range engagements and their training would depend entirely on where they were recruited and what theatres they served in. The set comes with twenty-seven miniatures and yes, you do get the banner poles and banners!
A unit that has been requested quite a lot seems to be the Mounted Segban and they are now available as a set from Wargamer.
Mounted Segban // By Fire & Sword
Sebgans were auxiliary troops who would normally fight on foot but also travelled on horseback to get from location to location on the battlefield. This makes them a lot like the classic Dragoons that a lot of folks will be familiar with. They were tasked with protecting wagon trains and scouting, although this was sometimes made quite hard by the poor quality of their firearms and a lack of training. Still, this will give you nine foot and nine mounted miniatures for scouting duties on the tabletop.
Another new unit comes in the form of the Foot Hajduks.
Foot Hajduks // By Fire & Sword
This set comes with eighteen miniatures and represents the Hajduks, or Haiduks, who were shepherds that found themselves dragged into the role of foot soldiers. Freed from their servitude, they were then expected to serve in the military. They did originally start as cavalry but over time became foot soldiers for different armies. Most of the time, Hajduks didn't wear uniforms as they were a permanent mercenary unit, making use of weapons like arquebuses, sabres and axes on the battlefield. A cool unit for someone seeking to play around with different schemes.
There is even more on the way for By Fire & Sword, including the likes of the Croatian Cavalry...

...and the Muscovite Light Cannon Battery for when you need a bit of firepower on the tabletop. Some good new units for the Holy Roman Empire and the Muscovites in your games of By Fire & Sword. Just like all of the miniatures from By Fire & Sword, they are primarily metal with a few plastic components for the likes of horses.

The new edition of By Fire & Sword seems to have been going great guns (pun intended) and I like that the folks at Wargamer are putting in the effort with loads of new boxes so that the various nations and factions are getting plenty for army expansions.
New By Fire & Sword Terrain
As well as all of the new infantry, there are also two new terrain kits for you to choose from for By Fire & Sword.
Kule Tower House // By Fire & Sword
The first of the terrain pieces is the Kule Tower House (above). These were small fortifications that were built in strategic locations like mountain passes or on the edge of a settlement that sat on the border between warring nations. They were designed to give you protection from raids and you could shelter in them for a long time since they were quite difficult to crack as defences!
The Kule were fortified residences that formed part of a network that could then serve as an early warning system in case of invading armies. This meant that the local elite were often tasked with being the first line of defence on the frontier, a role I'm sure they gladly embraced!
Last but not least, we also have a set of Trenches for more expansive battlefields.
Trenches // By Fire & Sword
Trenches were a key part of warfare even back in the 17th Century. Not only were they great for sieges but they were perfect for providing troops with defensive positions during a prolonged battle and, of course, a dug-in location for artillery to bombard the enemy. These sets represent classic trenches with palisades, fascines, gabions and fences, dug into the ground to provide you with a good location to fight from. The two terrain kits that you see here are made from PLA plastic.
Could you be tempted by more of the new miniatures for By Fire & Sword?
