I had actually wondered what it looked like seeing that I had not seen the first move videos.
There’s the walk-through I requested!
So you’re all heading back to Ireland with a view to maybe move to Nottingham later? That’s impression I got, but I’ve been wrong before.
We are going to split filming between Ireland and nottingham 🙂
We’ll have dedicated space in nottingham, as well as loads more onsite filming with the companies there.
In Ireland we are working through studio options at the moment, affordability will be the issue there as we are really focusing on keeping things sustainable for the long term. (So yeah we’re gonna have to be pretty frugal)
But we also plan on filming in a lot more varied locations around the north coat of Ireland, which we think will be awesome, but we are going to have to gather up some outdoor filming equipment, (canopies and a generator etc) and were hoping to be able to Russell up a couple more cameras to do bigger and better battle reports and demo games.
Well these are our dreams at least 🙂
Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure I understand the outdoor part. Are you going to do BatReps from the tops of cliffs? Maybe Romain will paint some figures with a city view behind him? It all sounds like Kieth Floyd or Jamie Oliver preparing dishes on a fold-up table. 🙂
Good luck with the move!
It might seem like a joke, but we are seriously considering it 🙂
Well I know that if you do it, you’ll pull it off with style!
During the Mars Attacks Facebook chat yesterday evening Ronnie from Mantic said he’d already spoken to you and that all you had to do was pick up the phone and you’d have space in their office too. Nice to see how most of the Lead Belt companies are welcoming you with open arms.
Will we see the return of Darrell and John in the future?
and Andy!
Amazing how emotional one can get in just 3:55! I had never seen the store before. Thanks for the walkthrough and thanks for keeping us in the loop!
Thanks for that, nice vid!
Thanks for the update guys, I’m still gutted so can only imagine how it feels for you guys and your families. #*~#_ GW.
Love to see a pic of the size of that truck. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the inside looks guys. I’ll miss the old studio but can’t wait to see what you guys have planned! And a kickstarter for a new Irish studio wouldn’t be a bad idea!! I think most people would much rather kick in for that rather than something a percentage of us have no interest in!
Best of luck!
Hopefully in future there’ll be a studio tour vid where you’re not in the middle of leaving it 😛
Lol, you know this has been bothering me too lol.
And I need to settle my head a bit, as I keep pestering Lloyd about buying a place with the phrase, ‘the shit has hit the fan anyway, perhaps now is the time to be a bit more ballsy’.
The thing is if you can get the mortgage, it’s probably cheaper to buy than to rent space! (yes the world has gone mad)
I’m looking forward to your reports from Nottingham is the dedicated space you mention at the Olde trip ? 🙂
God I wish, but I’d spend all day playing with the horn 😉
(if you don’t get that, then you need to visit the trip!)
I just “innuendo-bingo” sprayed my computer screen with water.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1_Kisg95Ac
The ring and the horn sounds like it should be censored
Filming in both Nottingham and Ireland, Warren you will go from being afraid of flying to frequent flyer in no time.
Studio equipment doesn’t like flying either, so we’ll take the boat… At least that’s my excuse
I hope both you and the stuff have nice trips…
Will we get some Romaintic painting tutorials from Ireland?
Cheers!
I’ve got things planned, don’t worry ! You’ll not get rid of me that easily… 🙂
Great news Romain.
Hang tough guys.. Hope the whole thing ends up getting you in a better place overall! Thanks for sharing it all…
Hope the move goes smoothly, guys!
Have a nice trip and all the best. At least the weather seems nice enough, I wouldn’t dream of leaving the garage door open anymore…
I really got a massive kick out of seeing this video. Im still feeling it like everyone else but I know that this will turn around, BoW is going to be stronger as a result.
Proud to be part of it
so, if BoW can cover GW products again and you’re going back to Ireland… does that mean we’ll see Darrell wearing his sangiunor costume again this halloween?
Ahh Im gutted this all had to happen but I think the outcome will be positive in the end!
I really love seeing these behind-the-scenes videos, even of ‘boring’ stuff like packing boxes and warehouses 🙂
PS Does Wayland have a shop onsite that you can visit during the day?
Yes Tabletop Nation (on site) has a store inside, see the opening times here:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/tabletop-nation/
Thanks Lloyd!
Delighted to see ya all keeping in good spirits. Give us an update on how youre leaving party went and safe travels home.
P.S. Still loveing the repeat calls for Darrells return…and Ill add Andy to that 🙂
More Darryl and Andy!!
Agreed. But also more Mike and Kev – if that’s possible.
Welcome home lads.
I have a portoloo you can borrow, where in Nottingham should I hang it.
But then there is always the Mars Attack.
Good Luck
Sad to see you having to leave Essex guys but I’m certain you’ll suceed wherever you end up.
Out of curiosity will you be at the Mantic open day?
Thanks for the vid, guys. Like the behind the scenes.
It’s a shame it had to come to you guys leaving, but the new opportunities that it’s opened up to you lot (and all the great stuff we’ll get to see and read about) will be worth it in the end. And I hope to see some more “Son ‘bitch” videos with good old John, if he’s able to join in again. And to hear his and Darrell’s history ramblings and cheesy tactics.
BoW being up in the Lead Belt will be awesome! All those wargames companies you can visit!
And I know you’ve got an interview article on the site with Andy Chambers, but I hope you guys get to interview him yourselves some time as well as some of the other ex-White Dwarf guys. I’d love to see if Adrian Wood is still mad about Orks, if his massive army is even bigger, and what he thinks about GW, or at least to hear about his time at GW.
Maybe interviews with the old sculptors like Gary Morley, or the guys who sculpted extra minis under the name Marauder Miniatures (remember them? They sculpted awesome alternate dwarfs, amongst other things).
I guess you could put all those interview ideas under the name of “GW: The Wonder Years”, lol! Unless GW says you can’t talk about their past. Or even say the letter G followed by a W too.
Apart from the old GW stuff, I’d love to see you guys running events with the other games companies – I’m sure you have ideas on that yourselves already. I’d love to see you guys at Warlord Games own Games Days, this other event called Colours which I’ve not been to before; loads of stuff like that.
Onwards and upwards mateys. Never give up! Never surrender! 😀
Good luck guys, see you very soon I hope
We want Magnificent Dave….We want Magnificent Dave…..THE Time Lord!!!!!
Good journey fellas.
Good luck guys with all the packing and hope you will be back on track soon with some epic new projects and the good old shows 😀
Bon Voyage boys. Best of luck.
Sad thing with this is, how will this affect Table Top Nation as they’ll now have no video or YouTube outlet all because of GW being cocks?
Also you’ll miss the sunny weather now you’re heading back to NI. Oh well 🙂
Im sure (and hoping) that BoW will still cover TTN they just wont be officially affiliated anymore
Yeah, covering isn’t the same as affiliated 😉
wink wink nudge nudge
No, seriously, guys. for example, covering GW isn’t the same as being affiliated with GW 😉
Guys Its been a blast working with ya and getting to know ya hope it all goes well for ya so lets not call it good bye but until next time god speed
Mantic just said on their Facebook live chat that they are willing to make room for BoW in there new building. This would be AWESOME. and am now and forever a 110% supporter of all thing Mantic.
no way!! sweet !!
FYI I didn’t say they were going there, only that they are being offered the ability to do so. Granted I don’t know anything about what agreement would have to be struck , but I would like to see them there. That would mean more videos of Mantic products with Warren and James. 100% win on that side. But their is also the families that have to take into consideration at the same time. Best of luck BoW on where ever your firey horns, wings and shield land.
Good guys always win in the end 😉
So will Nottingham be your main location or the emerald isle ? how much time will be split between them ?
I find it a bit sad, I can t help but thinking that GW isnt doing a great job with the community and other media.
They are the main guy in a very small niche market. they should be more careful with the way they are handling such things. as far as I am concern I havent bought any of their products for over a year.
I still appreciate the level of quality of their mini and games, but I think I am ready for a long break. hopefully they ll come back to what they use to do 15 years ago.
but thankfully, we have all those other amazing companies to produce awesome games and keep us busy.
BoW I am supporting you with your decision to keep covering GW, but I would have stay regarless if you didnt ^^
Good luck with the move, plenty good things ahead of you in the future i am sure.
Thanks so much for the farewell tour of the studio. I wish y’all the best of luck with the move and the set up of the new diggs. In the future, such behind the scenes info/tour would be much appreciated. It is always fun to see the ins and outs of what you do and not just the polished presentations. Wishing you safe travels.
I love you guys… in the most manly means possible that is.
when you get settled do a turn 8 lol
That was a nice little video. When you get to the new place(s) you should do more of those runthroughs when possible. It’s good to get a bit of context.
I was really getting into Magnificent Dave and Warren’s Flames battle reports. Very good and entertaining. Will Dave be travelling with you guys? Best of Luck and I will of course continue to support you guys!
How is the move going?
Does this mean no more Dave? 🙁
a.k.a. Crazie German
Good luck Guys on your move. I am staggered at how your lives, both working and personal, must have been disrupted by this attack from Games Workshop. It smacks of persecution and the worst face of capitalism. Given that most people like GW products and owe a lot to GW over the years why does GW act in this way? Surely those who work for GW must see how badly their company is acting against BOW and other parts of the hobby. Some message must be sent to the bosses at GW to stop acting in this way. They should embrace the wider hobby and all of us look to grow it together or is GW just interested in selling their products to the next group of young teenage boys, making maximum profits out of them, then watching them leave the hobby with only a few continuing to game into later life. The problem is GW has to turnover so much each year just to standstill and have been finding it increasingly difficult to satisfy their shareholders that they are paranoid about any perceived threats hence their action against BOW. GW’s behaviour at Games Day towards anyone trying to take video footage smacks of the Soviet KGB! Look forward to seeing much more great footage from BOW. I hope your families will settle into their new homes. Not all English people are as unfriendly as GW.
Thought I would update people on here as they have been asking me.
Although I’m not going to N.I (no matter HOW amazing that would be to me… Id move there in a shot).
I WILL however be flying over to N.I every so often to do some filming for FOWFtW (and other games too I hope… Saga Irish are being painted as I type 😉 )
I maybe a English pansy but it DOES say Irish Guards on my uniform and there’s a reason for that 😀
So look out because Dave has many many more things for BOW and you guys to enjoy in the no so distant future.
