Another old miniature I’d never got round to using was the old metal chaos dragon back from WFB. It will be a stand in for the daemon shrike entry in the daemon army list, which is a flying monstrous creature. But because this was metal, I needed to undercoat it first in black before doing the white mist over the top as the metal of the miniature wouldn’t create the natural shade I got from a grey resin miniature.

Painting happy trees... I mean daemons.

The paint scheme for this is easy.

1st step is just to mist a white undercoat over the models from directly above.

2nd. Coat model with nihilakh oxide. You will get natural shading because you only coated the high areas with white.

3rd. A drybrush of white over the whole model, building it up heavier over details you want to show more. You can at this stage also highlight some edges directly with white as well to make them stand out even more. I did this mostly on the crests of the alien heads.

Thrudd the barbarian ghost/daemon!

Probably one of the oldest miniatures I decided to add to the army is the mighty Thrudd! He will be one of the higher ranking daemons, and I just liked the thought of a soul in the warp being strong enough to keep its own persona despite being aligned with chaos.

An actual Daemon miniature?!

Had this guy sitting in the box for over twenty years… so thought it was time to finally assemble and paint it up!

My first Unicast miniature. I was amazed that this was a single piece miniature. Prodos are using wizard magic to cast something like this in one part.

Drilling alien ass.

As I was assembling the warriors I was a tad concerned with the joint on the tails, so decided to pin each one. So many alien backsides were drilled!

So many boxes
