About the Project
I got carried away..... and this means the original core army would never, ever be finished if I keep expanding as I go along. So here is everything! I want to do a massive game somewhere around 10 or 12 thousand points a side. And I want the miniatures to be suitable for as many other game systems as possible. I don’t want to do things twice! Whom do we serve? “SARUMAN!”

So. Now I’m bored of sci fi for a bit, let’s see how the goblins go……
It’s been an interesting and rewarding experience to sell off the stuff I don’t adore or will never get to. It feels very liberating actually. I now feel my goals are genuinely achievable and only just over the horizon. This is all assuming I can stay on track of course. I promise nothing, those steam tanks are calling to me as is some beautiful metal handgunners.Assault on Rynn’s world
Loved the game last night, Eldar attack the prometheum refinery on Rynns world. The space wolves had to hold the tide! Bjorn was invincible in this game! The space wolves terminators with assault cannons took a major toll on the Eldar with the swooping hawks being all but wiped out turn one! Assault cannons!!!!!!
The strategy cards proved entertaining, space wolves layed a mine field making a huge section of the centre impassable. Eldar lost the D-cannon first turn, only to have another one return immediately as reinforcements! Thank you strategy cards!
The secret mission cards won the day for the beleaguered Eldar however, on the final turn the dire avengers made a dash for their objective and stole 5 extra victory points bringing the Eldar 2 points ahead! Narrow squeak even though the wraithguard prove to be devastating to the space marines tactical squad. Loved playing some old school 40k second Ed, such a narrative way of playing games of sci-fi.
And what a surprise that your host had a victory with the Eldar!
6000 points a side!
Errrr, yeah. So turn two, I’ve won. The enemy commander is sarcastically overjoyed as you can see. The mission was assassinate the enemy commander, so I put my hard hitters in front of my commander behind a swamp. They put theirs out in the open………..surrounded by knights and hard troops. I dropped rocks on their heads until the squashy bits squished no more. So we carried on playing a full contact battle.Avenge the death of our count!
Messrs Bug’Rit and Lee stomping Humies on the right flank! The empire and Norse could not break through the narrow lanes of the swamp. Many empire foot knights, chaos knights and warriors died this day. When the giants finally met their match against a chaos lord on demon mount, Lee happily fell over in death and killed the lord! Ha ha!
This flying demonic bastard proved more of a problem however! All my artillery fell to two things, cosmic lightning and comet attacks from empire wizards, and this flying bloated ball of death! The butchers bill. It came with an unexpected gas bill too!
The butchers bill.
Amimosity only happened 4 times! That’s absurd, even though 6 spiders got shot by ‘friendly fire’!
The net result was my commander lived throughout l, in fact he was not even touched!
My left flank collapsed beyond hope, the middle looked very unhappy.
Well, the where fleeing.
The right flank was utterly solid and looked good to stomp some more, however a small problem was on my horizon.
The full empire artillery battery was about to train down upon me after finishing the centre. I also had a daemon prince with wings bearing down on me. Only one wound mind you! I think I could have put up a solid fight for 3/4 more turns then the overall battle may well have gone to the empire chaos coalition.
But the strategic victory is mine as my commander is very much alive. Also the Moral victory is clearly mine! Since when does Chaos and Empire unite!? Honestly! Whomever the empire sent to hire those north did not check their credentials well enough! ‘A little too physically corrupted and a wee bit more daemonic than I expected me lord. Do I tell them to go home? Aaaannnnd should I do it with a note of some sort?’
We had to do something as the guys just are not keeping up with the painting progress. I will have to paint up a host more empire to aid them. Especially as our next game will be 8000 points, they will probs need the help.
Magic was dominated by the empire, who did spiffing work with lord of heavens using lightning and comets to get rid of many of my rock lobbers and shamans.
Highlight for me, the right flank was excellent for decimating hard hitting chaos warriors/knights and many many reiksguard foot knights! Only a chaos lord on daemonic mount managed to biff off the giants after all this carnage, at which point both giants fell on the lord and killed him! Huzzah!
The spiders did an awesome job, the scuttled over all obstacles and down a sheer cliff face to flank some squashy empire foot troops! Lovely work, shame the ogres came and stomped them.
We may even do exactly the same game again but with us on opposite sides of the table. If we where fighting an all out battle from the start I would have deployed differently, the fast cavalry would have been on my right (in the swamp) and my hard hitters would have been split between the left/right divide line and the right/left divide line. More artillery would have been devoted to getting rid of that bloody ordnance battery.
Would be interesting to see how differently it would have gone.
