Long Week
Still tired, so I kind of did the minimum progress my brain would allow today.
Put the second coat of varnish and primer on the sewer-dragons and the first half of the primitives. (Does anyone else use their bathroom as a fume hood? Small apartment, so…)
Cleaned up the test ferrox some, did the base rim in black. A bit of work around the face and that one should be done. Did some other base rims while I had the black out.
And finally, glued two more shengrylla to bases and did the ol’ CA glue/baking soda trick to get some wasteland texture.
A lot of what’s on the table to paint is either in need of more minis to be complete or waiting for the flesh colors box from Army Painter. Next should probably be the horat or warp hounds. The latter makes more sense because they have thin bases like the sewer-dragons, and drilling all the bases at once might be wise…
Ferrox progress, varnish/prime, and a velociraptor in a tutu
Just a little today. Some drybrush on the test ferrox base (basecoat in desert yellow, strong tone wash, skeleton bone and arid Earth drybrushing). Did some priming to get the second coat on the eggs for Q37 terrain and first coat on some GW skink primitives. First coat of varnish on the sewer-dragons as well.
Also, for my actual crew, I had these velociraptors that were nude, and I felt they needed something. One got shorts, and the other got a tutu. Not bestiary related, but dino with an army helmet, bolt pistol, and a tutu. What more could you want?
#OneThing (or a couple of things)
Some nights you’re just tired, but if you sit down and do one thing, that’s progress. And once your butt’s in the chair, sometimes you do a couple of things.
One of those nights, so the plan was to just get the tone on the ferrox base. Which turned into doing the same to my dino crew’s runner. He got some base colors, but crew is not bestiary. I did do some attaching and basing of some more shengrylla, though.
Not much, but progress, and that’s all you need.
Stargrave Sunday
Got the big apartment cleanup today and spent most of my time doing sweeping and mopping and vacuuming, oh my. Still, snuck over to the table for a couple of bits of progress.
Finished off the paint on the two sewer-dragons, including the eyes and picking those teeth out. They are Good Enough™ for table play at this point, so move to the varnish pile, though they also need a magnet drilled and glued into the bottom.
Some building; some extra tails and third eyes to my Reaper Wild West Wizard of Oz Winged Monkeys to move them over to shengrylla, and some basing treatment for my GW Skinks, who I magnetized arms on a while ago. Nothing to worry about. They’re ‘armless.
One last test on a ferrox, a Reaper Blood Wolf, just slapping some speed paint and base colors on. I think this seems a decent way to go; the fox pattern with the wolf coloring and the weird hexapedal bodies. We’ll leave it overnight and see.
Small Saturday Update
Not a ton of work on minis today, did a bit of housework instead of painting. Still got the second layer of varnish on the magmites, so those seven are done. (Need a couple more for four player on that final main book scenario.)
Assembled and did the first prime on the alien eggs I had from the Aliens: Hazards and Assets boxed set. (Great set for Stargrave; it has computers and boxes that are excellent data and physical loot markers, two facehuggers/mindgrippers and eight eggs for Q37!) Also put some GW Seraphon skinks on bases for primitives (also a War Cry band eventually).
Decided the blue/purple croc looked good enough, so did the inside of his mouth and eyes, and a similar base paint on the other one.
All told, when I look back on it…guess I did do quite a bit.
