About the Project

STAND BACK! Be silent! Be still!... That's it... and look upon this moment. Savor it! Rejoice with great gladness! Great gladness! Remember it always, for you are joined by it. You are One, under the stars. Remember it well, then... this night, this great victory. So that in the years ahead, you can say, 'I was there that night, with Arthur, the King!' For it is the doom of men that they forget.

During lockdown I had a go at building some stormcast models.

So to be honest from the beginning, I’m pretty none plus about Age of Sigmar. It’s done nothing wrong. The models look nice, the rules seem OK from what I know of them, but it just seems to be lacking something to drag me in. I’m not sure if its the setting. I read the Dark Harvest novel and really enjoyed it, and I would highly recommend it but overall I just can’t gel with the world it.

So back to lockdown, because I wasn’t building the models to play or represent a particular factor, they were done more as an arts project. So I did a simple head swap. Removing the nice sun helm and replacing it with a bretonian one to give it more of a archaic look.. And it worked

The feel I was going for is Mort de Arthur, Excalibur… that classic victorian heavy armoured knights. I wanted my knights to feel heavy.

So I’m going to continue this theme. I have loads of Stormcasts I have acquired over the years so I’m going to begin there.

So my eldest does warhammer lessons. Not in an after school club but as a structured part of their school day.

Now they have been aware of the games for most of there life, But this is the first time they have had piers and outside adults involved. Rather than 40k they have settled on Age of Sigmar, a game I know very little about. They already own some Nighthaunts so they they’ve decided to build them up as a proper force.

It would also appear that Warhammer school lessons aren’t too different from Art lesson when I was at school, with kids fighting for the best equipment and trying to get the teachers attention. So I’ve decided to support them in this endeavor and keep them engaged by building my own Age of Sigmar army alongside them. Hopefully teaching them the basics of painting and joy of the hobby.
