In a game as strategic as Warmachine, positioning your units is what makes the difference, so Even If I face Cygnar, I prefer to go first Usually in turn 1 your oponent will go closer to the objectives too so if you don´t keep the initiative you might loose the battle, I just try to get closer those units I lnow that can defend against ranged attacks. In my case 2 Paladin with dartan Vilmon are the best objective holders.
Great stuff as usual guys, completely agree with the importance of seizing the initative in senario play. However I’m not sure I follow you on the going second with Cygnar. I find that as a cygnar player I often get the additional boost of going first. Getting in some early shots (with things like hunters or defenders) before the enemy has a chance to start putting defensive or armour buffs on quite useful. But I guess I’m not always capable of doing that by having to deploy first (although the Advanced Deploy of the Hunter does let me get round this somewhat).
