Dive Into North Star’s Wave 2 Warriors Of Athena Miniatures

The Warriors of Athena range by North Star Military Figures expands with even more metal and plastic miniatures for those undertaking adventures in the age of Greek myth and legend. There are some mighty new monsters to face down alongside heroes willing to battle them.

Cyclops // Warriors of Athena

Leading the way, we have the classic Cyclops that many folks will be familiar with from Greek mythology. This fellow is clearly rather miffed that someone just stuck his friend in the eye with a burning stake and now he's getting ready to sink your ship so you can't escape. The miniature has great posing and looks perfect for the skirmishes of Warriors of Athena. Just remember, your name is "Nobody".

Sticking with big things, we also have the mighty Giant from the folks at North Star. Drawn from a primordial age, giants are a dangerous foe for anyone to deal with, even the sons and daughters of the gods.

I like that the miniature has all of the hallmarks of those old "here be monsters" maps. It also has something of the Harryhausen in its design, putting me in mind of movies like Jason and the Argonauts and the like. You could imagine this fellow bursting forth from the sea, perhaps as a scion of Poseidon who has been sent to deal with interlopers!

Talking of Jason and the Argonauts, we also have the classic Hydra! Make sure that you've packed your sharpest sword and got a flaming torch on hand so those heads don't grow back!

Another stunning miniature and one that adds to the iconic monster collection that you find in Warriors of Athena. The various miniatures from North Star tend to match up well with the scenarios from the games they are designed for but I think anyone would be foolish not to have a proper Jason and the Argonauts showdown with this creature. You just need some skeletons in the mix to follow it up!

This pre-order period also sees the release of the plastic Warriors of Athena for you to use when making your heroes.

Heroes I // Warriors of Athena

We've had a look at this set in the past, so I won't go on about it too much. It comes with enough components for you to make your iconic heroes for your stories and their companions. There are also the Treasure Tokens that you can see at the bottom, which are included with pre-orders during the "Nickstarter" period.

This is by no means all of the miniatures coming as part of Wave 2. You can check out what else is on the way below...

Another Cyclops is in the mix alongside the likes of the Mythic Lion and the Mythic Boar. You've also got the cunning Witch who is going to be doing all sorts of terrible things to your heroes. I imagine there will be all sorts of curses coming your way that damn your journey!

What do you think of the new miniatures for Warriors of Athena?
