About the Project

I had a few possibilities for this year’s Spring Clean Challenge, and have finally decide on Fallout. I played a couple of games of Fallout Wasteland Warfare a few years back at my local club. I then went on and purchased a starter and some other packs, and more recently picked up Fallout Factions Nuka World in a Modiphius sale. However, I don’t have any of the minis painted. With the prospect of Fallout Wasteland Warfare Second edition coming later this year, and with a solo (and hopefully Co-operative) focus I decided that I would take the opportunity to get some minis ready for it before release. I am sure that once it is out I will find that I need to get some other minis (in particular creatures, as I have just a Deathclaw), but expect that raiders, super mutants and Brotherhood of Steel should get some use for it.

Thought I would try to quickly knock these two out as they are mostly just skin and teeth 😊

Started out with zenithal prime white over black, as usual. For the first one I applied Plaguebearer flesh contrast. However, that came out a little too light. So for the second one, on the left in pics, I dry brushed over with flesh prior to adding the contrast.

For the right side one I added an Agrax wash (must buy some more…) to take the edge of the brightness. Then I applied a dark pink to the gums and tongue, followed by a thinned pink to the eyes, ears, lips and legs. This was followed by a crimson wash over those same areas.

Finally I highlighted the gums and tongues, painted the teeth in dark brown followed by an ivory, added black for the eyes and then used a gloss varnish on the gums, tongue and eyes.

The bases were painted with a base colour of rawhide, with grey for the slab areas. All washed again with Agrax and dry brushed with pale sand. I added in very light stippling of an orange tone to add some colour interest to the beige. Its not obvious in the pics, but does help irl.

T-60 Power Armour

Onto the iconic power armour. This was dry brushed silver over the black prime. Then followed up with a thinned wash of a red brown to add some weathering.

After that I painted in the hoses, piping, undersuit and rear canisters. Then I gave it an all over wash with Agrax.

Oddly, after two brown toned washes the armour was looking a little too brown overall…. Not sure how that could be 😊

So I went back in and gave the metal a silver drybrush followed by highlighting the undersuit, hoses etc and adding in some black lining to separate some armour plates and pipes.

Then I started working on the base as well as adding in some blue eye lenses, a light and a red chest logo (vague). For the base features I painted them in a similar way to the base of Dogmeat. Painting on woodgrain to the planks, picking out a cap, some bricks and adding some green and brown tones to the dark grey of the road and path surface.

Finally I painted up the gun as a laser rifle, with a green ‘barrel’ housing and a yellow ‘capacitor’.

Joining Dogmeat has to be the Sole Survivor 😊

Same prime methodology. Then I laid down some contrasts – Talasaar blue for the vault suit and Wyldwood for the pads.

Sole Survivor

Then I added highlights for these, trying to bring out some detail, in particular for the pads. I also added some more work to the base.

The rest of it I kind of did on a roll, so didn’t really get any pics 😊

I added the yellow piping to the jumpsuit front with a yellow ochre, painted up the rifle and pistol with various metallics, picked out the badge etc.

The suit was given an Agrax wash, then re highlighted in places and the yellow was cleaned.

The face was contrast flesh, with a crimson wash applied to the lips and the eye sockets. The face lacks a little definition, but the crimson applied does help a little. The hair was black highlighted with a couple of stages of grey.

1st May 2026

I painted dogmeat in a similar way to how I did my wolves for The Silver Bayonet.

Started out with a zenithal prime, then put down a layer of Snakebite Leather contrast. This was followed up by Wyldwood contrast on the upper areas, blended in at the edges using Medium. Then it was Black Templar contrast in a smaller area again, using Medium again to feather the edges. Finally I stippled on a rubber black to give a touch of highlight.

For the eyes I applied a dot of black, followed by gloss varnish. The teeth were picked out in ivory.

The base was a mix of different contrast shades, with the wood plank picked out in a mid brown and some wood grain painted on in a light brown. I picked out various pieces of debris, the bottle, bottle caps and bricks. Then it had an Agrax wash, and finished off with a few spots of streaking grime.

29th April 2026

Been slow to start this due to work and another project, but I have finally managed to begin. I am going to commence with the contents of the two player starter set.

Finally making a start…

They all have mould lines, some of them they are quite fine and will likely only fully show when I get some paint down. But I cleaned up what I could.

Finally making a start…

Started out by giving them all a black spray, followed by an over spray of white (except for the power armour, which I left black).

Finally making a start…

I intend to begin the painting with the survivor and dog minis…..
