Warfulcrum Games Release Ace New 1918 WWI Starter Set

Warfulcrum Games created a great World War I wargame in 1918. We've talked a lot about the game here on OnTableTop and how it might be opening the door for more people to wargame World War I over World War II. So, it was nice to see that they have now released a new 1918 Starter Set!

This set includes all of the resin miniatures you need to start playing, plus the rules, tokens, dials, and more. It's a very good entry point for someone wanting to play as the British or the Germans during this period of World War I.

British Lieutenant and Batman // 1918

On the British side, you have a British Lieutenant alongside his Batman plus two full sections. You have the British Lewis Gun Section...

...and the standard British Rifle Section, giving you a solid core of troops for you to use during your games.

All of the miniatures are 28mm scale and the material that they are 3D printed in is an ABS-like substance that, according to Warfulcrum Games, has a good bit of flex but also plenty of strength, which is what you want for wargaming figures.

The miniatures come from their existing range, bundled together into these two easy-to-use starter armies for you to use out of the box. The quality of the 1918 miniatures is pretty good. We've played around with a fair amount of them ourselves in the studio. The details should start to pop on them once you get some paint on the figures.

Arrayed against the British, you have the Germans.

The Germans are led by their Sergeant, who is in command of two of the German MG08/15 Sections.

You'll note that even though this is effectively two of the same unit, they do come with plenty of poses so you can create a dynamic-looking unit as it rushes across the battlefield trying to leap into enemy trenches, dodging machine gun fire as they does.

I also think that these Germans show off some of the more dioramaesque miniatures that Warfulcrum Games do for 1918. I really like the soldier crawling up over the sandbags in the bottom right of the last image above. He's keeping an eye out for the enemy before letting his pals know behind him.

The Starter Set also comes with everything you need to start playing your first games when it comes to the rules.

You get four Order Dials, four Pin Tokens, four Wavering Markers and then the Starter Rules Learn to Play Booklet, which comes with all of the information you need to run a game of 1918. You could go proper old-school with 1918 and think of it as the days of yore, with your "army men" playing out battles over a dining room table where various stolen implements become your battlefield.
