War Scenery are on MyMiniFactory at the moment with a new Frontiers Campaign for their Bloodcult Grimdark Stormtroopers and the Winter Guard, a Soviet-inspired Sci-Fi army.

Blood & Ice - War Scenery

Blood & Ice // War Scenery

This campaign aims to give you the basis for two armies that you could use in your Grimdark Sci-Fi skirmish games and mass battle games. On the one side, you have the brutal and bloodthirsty followers of the Bloodcult, and on the other, you have the doughty warriors of the Winter Guard who suffer all sorts of hardships as they battle on far-flung planets.

Bloodcult Army

We'll kick things off with the dark followers of the Bloodcult.

Bloodcult Command - War Scenery

Bloodcult Command // War Scenery

The Bloodcult Command set comes with your set of veterans for leading the way on the battlefield. You have a Commander alongside a Comms Operator, Drummer and a Standard Bearer. There is also a Medic in the mix, although I think he does a lot more executions than saving lives. If you're dead, you can't feel the immense pain of having your leg blown off a second ago.

You also have the Bloodcult Stormtroopers who act as the core elements of your army.

Bloodcult Stormtroopers - War Scenery

Bloodcult Stormtroopers // War Scenery

These troops are armed with assault rifles and grenades alongside a heavy machine gun for when you need to lay down some covering fire. This also showcases some of the cool design ideas behind the Bloodcult, especially in the design of their helmets, which draw inspiration from those of the Samurai. You could imagine these all being the leering face of the dark creature that they follow, constantly staring out at their enemies across the battlefield.

If you want to get up close and personal, we also have the Bloodcult Raiders.

Bloodcult Raiders - War Scenery

Bloodcult Raiders // War Scenery

These soldiers are more focused on killing their enemies in close combat. They are melee specialists, trench fighters and bloodthirsty marauders armed with pistols, maces and hatchets. You also get two burly fellows who come armed with great weapons for carving through enemy armour.

There are also the Specialists who bring a range of special weapons to their squads, giving them a more focused battlefield role.

Bloodcult Specialists - War Scenery

This set comes with troops using grenade launchers, flamethrowers, "meltguns", plasma guns and there's also a sniper rifle in there for good measure. Slot these alongside your Raiders and Stormtroopers and you'll have infantry that can hold their own.

Lastly, for the Bloodcult, we have the Watchmasters.

Bloodcult Watchmasters - War Scenery

Bloodcult Watchmasters // War Scenery

According to the lore, discipline isn't really an issue within the Bloodcult, so these Watchmasters are characters that are holding onto their old ranks and a sense of superiority. A lot of them just like showing off their gnarled old chainblades.

It should be noted that the miniatures that you can get from the Frontiers Campaign are available as STL files, but you can get physical miniatures of these sculpts from Tabletop Terrain HERE.

Winter Guard Army

If you'd prefer to be on the side of the relatively good guys, then you can get your Winter Guard.

Winter Guard Command - War Scenery

Winter Guard Command // War Scenery

The Winter Guard Command follow a similar design principle to the Bloodcult in that you get a Commander in the set alongside a Standard Bearer, Medic and Comms Operator but then a specialist with a plasma gun for when you need to turn an advancing enemy into a puddle.

You also have some great rank and file troops for you to include as your Winter Guard Infantry.

Winter Guard Infantry - War Scenery

Winter Guard Infantry // War Scenery

They come armed with a variety of different rifles in different styles alongside a valiant-looking commander who is marking himself out to get shot by the enemy. I like the fellow pulling the pin out of the grenade with his teeth so he can lob it towards the enemy.

You also have the Specialists who come armed with a mixture of different weapons for you to use when backing up the aforementioned Infantry.

Winter Guard Specialists - War Scenery

The set comes with a flamethrower, grenade launcher, meltgun, plasma gun and then a last fellow with a sniper rifle. Again, slot these in alongside your regular soldiers to change their battlefield role.

If you need some heavier weapons, you can also get the Winter Guard Tankhunters.

Winter Guard Tankhunters - War Scenery

Winter Guard Tankhunters // War Scenery

This will give you some weaponry for making sure that tanks, walkers and monstrous creatures go pop and crash to the ground in a smoking wreck. You get two loaders and two fellows with rocket launchers, ready to take potshots at advancing armour.

Last but not least, we have the Winter Guard Commissars.

These are actually named characters but you can call them whatever you like. Here, you have Commissar Ina Spalkova and Commissar Zynski, who will be more than happy to execute anyone who disobeys their orders.

More miniatures for both sides are being unlocked through the course of the Frontiers Campaign, so if you want to see what else can be added into the mix for both armies, get involved and help out the community.

What do you think and which faction would you pick?
