my 2026 hobby
October
A very successful month in october, with a whopping 76 minis painted. So lets get into it.
First off, as is tradition, some Trench Crusade. My gaming group, Trench Crusade Southwest UK, hosted the Shards of Excalibur event early in the month, so coincide with the world wide campaign that Factory Fortress Inc was doing for Trench Crusade. With two Observers in our group, our games could be listed as “decisive” games, meaning the results from our event held a tiny bit more weight to the final result. With awards, not only for winning, but for painting as well, i decided to return to my roots with the game, and go back to the Red Brigade, and paint up a new warband with the intention of entering the painting competition.
As for the event itself? How did i do? Where did i place?…
Well i caught Covid and couldn’t go….
But i hear the event was a huge success, everything went smoothly which is fantastic to hear seeing as its our groups first event, and we are already planning a christmas event, so hopefully I’ll be able to attend that one.
However if you’re interested, you can read a bit about the Shards of Excalbur event here:

And here are some images from the event. We had 12 tables set up overall, and in the end i believe there were 22 attendees, with some of them even making the journey from London all the way down to Plymouth.
The main focus this month however has been Dropzone Commander, with powering through the starter set models. Pleased to say i managed to completely paint all of the UCM models from the 2 sets. They could have more work done to them, but the main purpose was to get them looking good on the table, which im happy to say they do. At some point I will go back and add more to them, mostly unit markings and so on, so i can easily work out who belongs to what squad and who is allocated to what transport, but for now, they will do. November I will be working on my Bioficers, so that hopefully i can introduce some of the Trench Crusade players to this wonderful game by demo-ing with fully painted armies.
And that wraps up my progress for October! and, if my maths is correct, I have just beaten my goal for the year with 2 months remaining!!! Does that mean I’m done for the year? No, i still have plenty of stuff that I’m wanting to get painted by the end of the year, but it does mean I can start putting my mind towards Terrainfest, and whether or not I will be entering this year, and if so, what am I going to do? I have some ideas, but need to get my head down and have a think.
End of month status: 366/365 GOAL COMPLETED!!!!!
Backlog minis painted: 139
