For the last several days I’ve tried to catch up on Weekenders and XLBS and have found that the videos that are not on YouTube, XLBS, Hobby Vlogs, etc. are extremely slow to load/stream. They will play about five seconds at a time then buffer again. Totally unwatchable. All of the videos from YouTube, Weekender, Skeleton Unboxing, the Twitch Stream Archive, are playing just fine. I’m not having issues with other sites. That said, I don’t see anyone else reporting problems so I’m not sure if it is you end or mine.
Hi Mate
What device, os and browser are you using?
Have you tried clicking the little cog icon and turning down the quality level to see if it makes a difference?
We’ll try to help as best we can 🙂
@rbwgames I have the same problem now and again. But mostly when I’m at home with my VDSL 100/40MBit from German Telekom. It doesn’t seem to be an issue when I’m at work with a 40/40 symmetric fibre optics from a different ISP.
I remember there being a bit of a “hot topic” as was discovered that Telekom wasn’t really embracing net neutrality and somehow made YouTube run slower than other ISP did. @warzan Maybe Vimeo has similar Problems with certain ISP through out Europe? If you have a business contact there maybe they can shed some light on it.
And my machines are Windows 7 pro 64bit with Firefox 65.0.2 64 bit 😉
It’s vimeos cdn doing it, depending on who your isp is and who ever they peer with upstream can have a big impact.
But it’s more likely to be a problem with either your device or netconnection.
If it’s a handheld close all background apps, disable mobile Internet and try WiFi only, or the other way around try mobile Internet will tell you if connection to blame.
On a pc/mac update browser and operating system with latest patches. Disable crapware like Norton Internet security, avg, avast and any other nonsense firewall providing nothing but a degraded browsing experience
Also try disabling any ad blocker you may be running see if that helps
Sorry, I forgot to give that info.
I’m in the states, on a PC running Windows 10, updated this week. I use Firefox browser, also just updated this week. I do have the “little cog” set to auto, also tried the lowest setting. My isp is xfinity, though I don’t use the wifi built into their modem, I use a much better router.
My next step is to plug direct into my router to eliminate any wifi issues.
If others are not experiencing this it is most likely something on my end.
