Free Company Sunspear Reinforcements Pack Review – Expanding the Helian League

Free Company has a new set of 32mm scale Fantasy figures up for pre-order for their game, Eldfall Chronicles. The new Reinforcements Pack for the Helian League is the Sunspear, a Paladin of the Empyrean Order, and her retinue.

First of all we have the Paladin of the Empyrean Order, who is both a spiritual guide and battlefield leader among the Helian Marines, serving as a trusted advisor, commander, and exemplar of the Order’s uncompromising ideals. The most devoted of their number are elevated to Justicars, carrying divine law and authority into the heart of battle.

In-game, the Paladin is a versatile support leader, combining respectable durability with healing magic, defensive buffs, and powerful utility. Her standout ability allows her to step in as a second-in-command if the army’s leader falls, while her Stratagems and Empyrean Standard help shield nearby allies from morale loss and debilitating effects, making her an invaluable anchor for both disciplined formations and independent operations.

Flameshapers are Helrin pyromancers who have awakened to their people's sacred connection with fire, a gift that has guided and protected the Helian League since the Age of Dusk. While many practice pyromancy as a craft or calling, the Flameshapers of the Expeditionary Force bring their mastery of flame to the battlefield, where light, heat, and fury form the core of Helrin warfare.

In-game, Flameshapers are an inexpensive but highly effective support-damage unit whose true strength lies in synergy. As Soldiers, they bolster and benefit from allied formations, while their fire spells provide reliable ranged pressure. Their standout combination of Chain Attack and the Sorcerer class allows them to generate additional attacks with rerolls, making them a remarkably consistent source of damage and one of the most efficient units available for their cost.

The Eonian Runners are swift scouts and outriders drawn from the allied Eonian tribes that inhabit the wild interior of Helion. Descended from the island’s original inhabitants, these stag-like warriors have long stood beside the Helrin, guarding remote settlements, patrolling sacred lands, and serving as irregular troops within the Helian Expeditionary Force.

In-game, Eonian Runners are highly flexible skirmishers equipped for both ranged and melee combat. Their javelins allow them to harass enemy formations from a distance before closing in with shortswords, while their standout Hit and Retreat ability lets them strike and reposition with ease. Combined with Leap and the Ranger class, they can cover ground quickly, ignore terrain obstacles, and operate effectively as either independent flankers or mobile support within a larger battle line.
