Reaver Skin
This was tough. I needed to find three skin tones that I was happy with, somewhat reflected the art work, and looks realistic. I settled on three skin tones that I could also use on the rest of the Khorne Bloodbound Reavers.
Medium Skintone (Caucasian)
- Use Citadel Bugman’s Glow as the base. Two or three light coats will cover the model effectively.
- Wash the skin with Citadel Reikland Fleshshade
- Leaving the darker color in the recesses layer the skin with Citadel Cadian Fleshtone
- Highlight the skin’s muscle with Citadel Kislev Flesh
Dark Skintone (Sub-Saharan African)
- Use Citadel Catachan Flesh as the base. Two or three light coats will cover the model effectively.
- Wash the skin with Citadel Agrax Earthshade
- Leaving the darker color in the recesses layer the skin with Citadel Bloodreaver Flesh
- Highlight the skin’s muscle with Citadel Knight-Questor Flesh
Tanned Skintone (Mediterranean/Middle Eastern)
- Use Citadel Ratskin Flesh as the base. Two or three light coats will cover the model effectively.
- Wash the skin with 1 part Citadel Contrast Fyreslayer Flesh and 1 part Contrast Medium
- Leaving the darker color in the recesses layer the skin with Citadel Ratskin Flesh
- Highlight the skin’s muscle with Citadel Bestigor Flesh
Scars
- Thin Citadel Screamer Pink to a little thicker than a wash consistency. Paint this over the scar allowing it to settle around the scar but not so much that it runs.
- Highlight the with the lightest color (aka the final skin highlight) on the raised part of the scar
Garrek's Reavers Bases
I have been basing my Khorne Bloodbound on a lava base and after seeing the Khorne Bloodbound base I knew I would be able to recreate that using the sculpted bases that Garrek’s Reavers come with.
The first step was to paint several layers of Citadel White Scar into the cracks before randomly adding spotches of wash with Citadel Casandora Yellow, Citadel Feugan Orange and Citadel Carroburg Crimson. Finally using Citadel Abaddon Black carefully pick out the cooled lava flow.
I then used Citadel Dryad Bark and a drybrush of Citadel Gorthor Brown to base the dirt. (Not Pictured)
Thorns of the Briarqueen Ghostly Robes
I wanted to get the ghostly base colors on the Thorns of the Briarqueen started recently and I used the same technique that I had used on Lady Harrow’s Mournflight: https://www.ontabletop.com/project-entry/1544660/
Dread Pageant Bases
For these bases I got to try something different that I hadn’t done before with using a wash to color the stone.
Rim

Stones
- Base with multiple thin coats of Citadel Corax White

Myari's Purifiers Bases

Ironsoul's Contemptors
I took a break and visited my mother on Christmas (after a self-isolation period of course) but needed a project that didn’t require a ton of concentration. So I took Ironsoul’s Contemptors, Stormsire’s Cursebreakers and Steelheart’s gang and started painting them with Screamer Pink.
After dedicating myself to finish as much as possible I have Ironsoul’s Contemptors completely finished!!!
I used the scheme of the Celestial Warbringers as I was never happy with the all gold and blue scheme that the Hammers of Sigmar are in.
Armour
- Base the armor in Citadel Screamer Pink over a light grey or Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey undercoat.
- Wash with Citadel Druchii Violet
- Leaving the wash in the recesses layer up the Citadel Screamer Pink.
- Highlight the edges of the armor with Citadel Pink Horror
- Focusing on the sharpest points highlight again with Citadel Emperor’s Children
Gold
- Base with Citadel Balthasar Gold
- Wash with Citadel Reikland Fleshshade
- Leaving the wash in the recesses layer with Citadel Balthasar Gold
- Highlight with Citadel Gehenna’s Gold
Silver Metal
- Base with Citadel Leadbelcher
- Wash with Citadel Nuln Oil
- Highlight with Citadel Ironbreaker
- Edge Highlight with Citadel Runefang Steel
White Armor
Now I messed this up at first and had to put too many layers of the Celestra Grey on and it kind of came out a little rough as a result.
- Base with Citadel Celestra Grey
- Wash in only the recessed armor details (like the rays of sun with Citadel Nuln Oil before cleaning up with the basecoat.
- Layer with Citadel Ulthuan Grey leaving the Celestra Grey showing in the recesses.
- Highlight the edges with Citadel White Scar
Blue Cloth
- Base with Citadel Macragge Blue
- Wash with Citadel Nuln Oil
- Leaving the wash in the recesses layer up with Citadel Macragge Blue again
- Highlight various areas with Citadel Altdorf Guard Blue
- Highlight the edges of the cloth with Citadel Calgar Blue
Black Leather
I kind of deviated from the Abaddon Black here and went with a base of Citadel Corvus Black and Citadel Nuln Oil to shade it. This honestly provides a little more contrast before highlighting.
- Highlight with Citadel Dark Reaper
- Edge highlight the sharpest edges with Citadel Thunderhawk Blue
Cream Tabbard
- Base with Citadel Rakarth Flesh
- Wash the whole cloth with Citadel Seraphim Sepia
- Layer back up to Citadel Rakarth Flesh leaving the Seraphim Sepia in the recesses
- Highlight the sharpest edges of the cloth with Citadel Pallid Wych Flesh
Jewels
- Base with Citadel Thousand Sons Blue
- Highlight the edges with Citadel Ahriman Blue
- On the raised points and sharper edges highlight with Citadel Fenrisian Grey
