PanzerKaput Goes To Barons’ War

About the Project
Set against a backdrop of a Civil War that lasted for two years, 1215-17, as a result of the issuing of Magna Carta. A civil war was the perfect opportunity for the leading nobles of the time to grab land and power while settling some old scores along the way. This vying for land and power hadn't stopped since the invasion of 1066 with only the strongest of kings being able to keep their nobles in check. Our narrative focuses on small groups of warriors brought together under a lord or baron to raid and steal or defend land and property. With the strong, wise, cunning and lucky aiming to rise out of this civil strife in a better position than when it started. The Barons' War skirmish game has been written to enable players to fight out tabletop battles against the backdrop of the First Barons’ War between rival Barons or rival factions who find themselves on either side of the conflict. The game is historically themed, the gameplay is fast-paced and tactical with plenty of narrative and where force building presents you with lots of options enabling two players to muster very different retinues. However, as intended, this is an alpha set of rules which does not include rules for siege warfare, although rules for fighting in buildings are included. Campaign rules are something that will be addressed at a later date and released online. Having grown out of the Barons’ War Kickstarter project, the intention is for this ruleset to develop into a system that could be used throughout the Medieval period. Starting with England from when the Western Roman Empire withdrew around 410 AD to 1485 AD when Richard III died at the Battle of Bosworth Field. This presents us with a huge span of history for gaming which can be broadly divided into Romano-British, Anglo-Saxon and Viking, Anglo-Norman, Angevin and Plantagenet. And that’s just when looking at it from Great Britain. With warriors of this period being pretty similar, it would be easy to use the profiles in this rulebook to play out tabletop battles in any setting. Over time we see these rules evolving with additional warriors, characters, abilities and scenarios being added starting with the Dark Ages, the Anarchy and the Crusades and shared to www.warhost.online, which has been set up to be the community website for the game.

My Completed, Fully Painted Miniatures, until BW3 Comes
I have fully finished my entire Barons’ War Collection, that is until BW3 kickstarter or I need some more monks, slingers, archers, etc, but I am chuffed to bit to have a completed, well more than a completed force done.
I might of have gone a little overboard and for a game where the average size force is 1000 points I have somewhere in the region of 3500 points. As they say you need options, in my case, lots of options, lol. But saying that it is all of the figures from BW1 and BW2 kickstarter and I collected the range as a project to paint and build my force from that rather than build my force and choice my models I want.
By the way I still want to get my Trebuchet and crew as an objective marker and actually I want to make some objective markers anyway.

Kickstarter Coming Soon for the Medieval Welsh. Can be used for Saga too
LATE AUGUST: MEDIEVAL WELSH KICKSTARTER
Footsore Miniatures and Games have been working on a brand new range of Medieval Welsh with sculptor Matthew Bickley. This range is extensive, which is why Footsore have decided to ask for help via Kickstarter to deliver it. Footsore are hoping that with your support, they we will be able to add more packs during the campaign, which goes live at the end of this month!
Keep an eye out for more information, we have a lot to share in the coming weeks!
Early Medieval = The Dark Ages so they are perfect for Saga too!
My Full Painted Barons' War
I have finished painting all my Barons’ War figures from the first and second kickstarters as will as all the special characters and other add ons that are sold via Footsore too. I have to say it does look like a lot of figures and I guess it is with everyone individually painted but now i am at a loss what to do, but i am sure I will find something.
I only got to wait a month for the third kickstarter to land and then I can paint more.
O Worthy Man of English Blood - Character Set
“When the French occupied the Kentish weald, their troops did great harm to the local people and their possessions. William of Cassingham and his band of archers repaid the French in kind. Patrols set off into the woods, never to be seen again. Supply convoys were ambushed, and sentries shot at their posts. When the French king heard of this partisan raising hell in “his” country, he dispatched one of his most able servants, Thomas, Count of Perche to put an end to the English menace.”
A fictional excerpt from Roger of Wendover’s chronicle, describing the exploits of English partisan William of Cassingham.
Thomas, Count of Perche
Born to Geoffrey III and Mathilda of Saxony, Thomas grew up in the care of his step-father, Enguerrand III Lord of Coucy. Eager to prove himself, he fought with the French army at Bouvines, where his retinue of militiamen fought in the army’s left wing. Having won his spurs on the battlefield, the Count joined Louis’ expedition to England in 1216.
When John died, and the French elected to continue the struggle against the English barons, Thomas found himself embattled around the town of Lincoln, as fitting a knight of his stature he was offered quarter which he declined and fought on to the death. Thomas, Count of Perche’s body was found in the aftermath stabbed through the eyes of his visor, when William Marshal the leader of the Royalist forces heard this he wept. The death of such a high-profile noble in battle shocked both sides.
William of Cassingham
William of Cassingham, nicknamed Willikin of the Weald by chroniclers, was a country squire who took up arms to oppose the French invasion. Reportedly, his army of guerrillas numbered in the thousands, and wreaked havoc on the enemy in the Kentish Weald. His travels to John’s base of operations in Nottingham castle may have permanently associated bow-wielding outlaws with the area, giving rise to the legend of Robin Hood in later centuries.
At the end of the war, due to his loyalty to the crown, William was granted a handsome pension and made Warden of the Weald and Sergeant of the Peace by King Henry, a post he held until his death.
I have painted the Knight character, Thomas, Count of Perche, different to the way to the way it was meant to be but have painted, William of Cassingham, the true Robin Hood, the way he should be.
