New General’s Handbook For Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
June 3, 2026 by brennon
Games Workshop has been teasing loads over the last week or so and some of the big news for Warhammer Age of Sigmar is that we'll soon be getting a new General's Handbook that covers your matched play games in 2026 and 2027. You'll be heading to the realm of Aqshy to tap into your rage!
General's Handbook 2026-27 // Warhammer Age of Sigmar
Whilst the last of the General's Handbooks covered fighting in the Realm of Life, Ghyran, this new book focuses in on the fighting across the Realm of Fire, Aqshy. Following the events of the Hour of Ruin, the fighting has now moved to Aqshy, where the very ashes that you tread through rise up around you and stoke rage within your blood.
The new mechanics for this coming year are Fury and Rage. Throughout your games, your Fury level will rise and this will then generate Rage dice. These Rage dice can then be spent to do a couple of new abilities. You can either use it to Fight Through The Pain, removing damage from your damage pool or unleash an Eruption Of Fury, giving you bonus attacks. The kicker with that is by unleashing your Rage, your opponent will boost their own Fury!
New Battleplans // Warhammer Age of Sigmar
The new set comes with the Core Rules for the game, twelve new battleplans, new battle tactics cards and you will also get rules for launching your own Aqshyian Crusade, linking your games together as part of a narrative campaign, or to run tournaments at home. You will also get a set of special Aqshyian Objective Markers.

Games Workshop has also mentioned that there will be a Warlord Edition of this set, which will come with an extra game tracker board which allows you to keep a tab on how your game is going, tokens to use alongside the board and a red token bag to match the Realm of Fire.
I've really enjoyed Warhammer Age of Sigmar this edition and think that they've stumbled upon a solid set of game mechanics and ways to play. It is a bit of a shame that the team behind the game seem to think we can only play battles in the Realm of Life and the Realm of Fire, though, as this seems to be the focus for literally everything at the moment. There are loads of other realms we could be exploring but perhaps that's for another supplement or expansion later on down the line.
Will you be getting this new General's Handbook?

This release is almost a summation of everything I dislike about 4th ed AOS …. standing on circles on fix maps, wordy rules that functionally do very little, additional silly currency systems. Rules that encourage spamming a type of unit.
All the flavour of a sterilised rice cake
Oh and its set in a previously used realm again, maybe that is why people don’t understand the realms and boredom planet is rumoured
