The Drowned Earth by ewokkebab

We kick off this week with ewokkebab, who is working away on some of the miniatures for The Drowned Earth. Tackling these character miniatures took a bit more patience and time and so ewokkebab was honing in on getting the details just right but might have bitten off more than they could chew.

The Drowned Earth #1 by ewokkebab

Being named characters, ewokkebab wanted to do them justice. This meant that the twelve miniatures that they had originally planned on painting turned out to just be three. I think that's all very fair indeed and the three miniatures that were finished off look brilliant. I think the painting looks great and the bases in particular look fantastic.

Beyond the humans trying to survive, we also have some of the brilliant dinosaurs from The Drowned Earth range.

The Drowned Earth #2 by ewokkebab

These popped up because ewokkebab was talking about doing these particular bases for their miniatures and getting them to suit the world of The Drowned Earth. I think the dinosaurs are an excellent part of The Drowned Earth that get you interested in painting brighter and poppier colours.

The Drowned Earth #3 by ewokkebab

You can see that in full effect with the miniatures above. There's always something great about seeing The Drowned Earth on the tabletop. It really makes you think about diving into the game and picking up the miniatures. Shiny syndrome in action from one of our community members!

The Barons' War by redvers

Next up, we're moving towards having a look at The Barons' War and some Historical wargaming in the Medieval period from redvers and son. Most recently, some miniatures were painted up to be used as part of the rank and file of warbands, a collection of deadly archers.

The Barons War #1 by redvers

These archers are looking particularly nice and the idea was to get them painted quickly and neatly rather than going in depth with all of the details. Simplicity was key and then a few brighter colours were used to make them feel a little less uniform. You will also see a shade was used to then bring it all together.

The Barons War #2 by redvers

redvers has also been working on some brilliant bits and pieces to use as objectives in games of The Barons' War. Again, this was done with speed paints and metallics and some really ace basing which looks like every field in England. Clearly, an army has snapped up this loot from somewhere and then taken a moment to rest as the raiders make their way back home.

redvers also has an excellent battle report as part of their project where they were looking into learning the game. This is a prime example of "just get playing". It doesn't matter if the miniatures aren't painted and it's a solid way to get more games in rather than waiting around for the right moment.

The Barons War #3 by redvers

As with all of redver's projects, this comes with plenty of interesting thoughts and ideas. It has a breakdown of the different armies as well as lots of painting examples and ways for you to get your own armies ready for the tabletop.

Conan's Heroines by pafetikbazerka

Last but not least, pafetikbazerka has drawn me in with some miniatures that are dear to my heart. They have been working on some of the heroic heroines of the Conan legends for the Monolith board game.

Conan Ladies #1 by pafetikbazerka

These miniatures, like Belit, have been sitting on the painting desk for a long time because pafetikbazerka was really worried about getting the skin right and all of the details. I think that, taking the plunge, pafetikbazerka has done a brilliant job on these miniatures.

Conan Ladies #2 by pafetikbazerka

One of the interesting things for me with these miniatures is that pafetikbazerka has taken the time to eek the detail out of the miniatures. The original Conan plastics weren't particularly great, weirdly, and some of the details were a bit soapy. I think that here, you can see what you can get out of the miniatures with a bit of care and attention.

Conan Ladies #3 by pafetikbazerka

pafetikbazerka has done some great work on Belit, Valeria and Valkyr and there's plenty more Conan awesomeness where that came from. I still have pretty much 90% of my Conan miniatures to paint from absolutely ages ago so I will end up having to step up my game, sooner or later.
