The swashbuckling previews of the upcoming duelling game, En Garde, continue to pour out from the cavalcade of artists who are coming together for this project. We've got some great new 54mm scale miniatures previewed recently, starting with a rather special one.

Admiral J. Weiss - En Garde

Admiral J. Weiss // En Garde

Admiral J. Weiss is the alter ego of the one and only John Blanche, sculpted by the fine hand of Patrick Masson and painted by Grimdark Compendium. Weiss is an accomplished swordsman and crack shot with his brace of pistols. The very epitome of the swaggering pirate lord.

He has a full story you can dive into over on their En Garde Facebook Page but I was particularly taken by his search for his lady love, who was turned into the Tethys Mermaid. He now sails the seas in search of mermaids but also takes to the skies aboard his flagship, the Sky Boar (or the Windy Pig to the crew). A pirate of high renown, he also plunders the merchant dirigible fleets of the Chi Empire, black sails fluttering in the sky!

The second of the miniatures we're looking at from the recent previews is King Rattus Rattus!

Rattus - En Garde

Rattus // En Garde

This miniature comes from Paul Hicks and despite his appearance, he is one of the most feared blades within Therae. He might be dressed in rags and have a peg-leg but he is also lightning quick, almost like a cunning little rat!

Some say that he was raised by the Great King Rat of legend but others attest to the fact that he can turn into one of the creatures himself when the moon is high in the sky. When he fights, he makes use of his two short swords, Fever and Famine, as well as his duelling pistols, Tooth, Claw and Tail. He can also summon rats to aid him in the fighting, although many consider that rather dishonourable!

Last but not least, we had to make it three with the addition of Van Ryn.

Van Ryn - En Garde

Van Ryn // En Garde

This Lurker in the Dark gave his soul over to Vepair, who spared his life as his ship was to be torn asunder on the high seas. He returned to the harbour in Therae and now fights in every Season of Duels within the heart of the city. He only ever duels after the sun has set and has never revealed his face from behind that silk scarf.

He also wears that magnificent red coat, said to have been gifted to him by the demonic Vepair. Some even say that within those boots are two cloven hooves! A devil in red and a rather fascinating character for the growing world of En Garde.

As mentioned above, if you want to follow along with the previews, then check out the Facebook Page for more details! En Garde is certainly looking like it will have a stunning range of 54mm miniatures to support it now.
