Hi All,
I just threw my GW Necromunda Ambot kit into the fireplace after NOTHING fit. I hadn’t bought any GW stuff for some time and of course, won’t be making that mistake again any time soon.
I’ve been Googling other robots but nothing so far stands out. Also, I’m looking for some sort of alien robot chassis with a cocked leg, like a dog leg, that I can pile weapons on to. Those need to be man-sized as they will be boarding type robots. Help?
Sorry to hear that. I designed a whole bunch of robots for Legions of Steel. May of the original figures are now on sale again. We also have a new Kickstarter with a bunch of different robots as well. You can check out the Kickstarter at http://www.legionsofsteelgame.com and for the old models you can see them here at Gamefound https://gamefound.com/projects/rayboxgames/legions-of-steel#/ I attached soe pics here too.

Thanks @RayboxGames ! I like the mini’s in the kickstarter but not sure I want the whole thing. I hope this reaches its goal, so I can pick up a few of the models separately.
Yes we will have them available separately. The last picture of the G12 Nightmares can be accessed as an Add-On in KS with a $1 pledge (KS rules not mine), if you those are the ones you like.
@Ceppie was that kit that bad ?
I haven’t had bad experiences with GW kits to be honest.
Instructions for the ‘modern’ kits are usually quite good, but then I have build 1:35 scale models as a kit, so I’m not a total n00b with plastic kits.
Yes, @limburger it was that bad. I built lots of their kits back in the day and they were fine, but had a similar experience several years back. That kit met the same fate. There’s something cathartic about tossing a poorly designed piece of crap in the fire! It’s a shame the designer wasn’t there to witness my disgust… and it’s not like I’m not an experienced modeler.
I think that’s the first GW thing I bought since Kirby left. The price tag on most of their stuff is just beyond what I’m willing to pay for middle-of-the-road mini’s. I looked at a box of the new elven cavalry the other day, but quickly and unashamedly put it back on the shelf when I saw that the price for five mounted figures had almost doubled since the last time I bought some.
I must admit that the prices are a bit too high to check the kit myself.
The only things that have tempted me to throw things into the fire have been metal and resin kits (Infinity by Corvus Belli is soo pretty … ). It’s probably why they are still on my big mountain of resin/metal/plastic.
OTOH … I do have that big Eldar Titan for 40k which doesn’t have even half the instructions a kit like that ought to have.
Definitely not going to be easy.
I think GW’s problem is that there are no direct competitor to their kind of style and availability.
Things like ‘Puppetswar’ and Kromlech (sp?) are resin kits that I would buy in an instant if resin wasn’t such a pain in the rear end for me to work with.
As a result they can do stupid things with little to no fear of failure (seriously .. those cow elves … )
Anyways … good luck finding alternatives.
I do understand your frustration with building things that just won’t fit properly.
