About the Project
Over the year I’ve been dabbling with my City States army but now its time to pull it all together. When I painted my Hundred Kingdoms army I kept them quite gritty but I want these to look like the shiny new kids on the block so I’m going to attempt to use the more poppy speed paints to really set them apart. It does mean I have to be more careful as I can’t really on drybrushes and washes to bale me out!

Polemarch
And to lead the force it’s the glorious Polemarch, again painted the same way as the Hoplites

Now I’ve noticed with these that painting them with cloak and shields on is going to be a pain in the arse so I’ve decided to paint up separately and assemble afterwards
Quick note metallic speed paints weren’t a thing when I starter these so as I’ll be washing the metals and old friend came for a drybrush.
Now I did get a bit forgetful with the photos whilst I was assembling. The skin tone is Speedpaint Crusader skin
After a dip in the pot the leader is done, now for the rest of the unit.

Simple Zenith to start
Now the bases are down I think the skin is a bit too pink so I want to tone it down a bit with a drybrush. Now, this may sound a lot like heresy (cue Donald Sutherland meme!) but I’m not going with the Brainmatter on this one but another favourite of mine. The mighty ‘Stone Golem’ \m/
After painting the base with Zandri dust and a quick dip in the basing mix the freaky weirdo is done! Just need to get the other two finished!
