Victrix Miniatures Unleash Their Dark Age Irish Warriors & Dogs
May 5, 2026 by brennon
Victrix Miniatures have unleashed their new 28mm plastic set for those wanting to bring the Dark Age Irish to the tabletop. This new set comes with both Warriors and Dogs for you to use in your Dark Age, Early Medieval and Medieval games.
Irish Warriors // Victrix Miniatures
This set covers Irish Warriors from the 4th to the 11th Centuries. Irish warbands fought each other but also raided (and were raided) by the Late Romans, Welsh, Picts and Romano-British as well as battled against the Saxons and Vikings on numerous occasions.
Irish Warriors // Victrix Miniatures
Irish Warriors were, for the most part, lightly armed and armoured, making use of spears, javelins (for those pesky ambushes!), swords and war clubs. They were skilled at fast raids and skirmishing, outflanking and outwitting their enemies with hit-and-run attacks.
Irish Warriors // Victrix Miniatures
Even considering that typical style of warfare, they could also form up into shield walls when required, making use of those big, hefty shields in order to shrug off storms of arrows fired by their opponents.
The set also allows you to build a mixture of more heavily armoured nobles and chieftains, mostly clad in mail and helmets. They would be the leaders of your warbands and could come from a mixture of different clans if you decided to go that way and play out a bit of a civil war on the island of Ireland.
Irish Warriors // Victrix Miniatures
The set also comes with plastic components for you to make the hunting dogs of the Irish that were used for chasing down prey and also your enemies on the battlefield.
Irish Warrior & Dogs // Victrix Miniatures
You get enough components within the set to build two Dog Handlers and eight Irish Wolfhounds. Enough to drag down a fair few of your foes or snatch them off the back of horses and chariots. They look great too, rushing forward across the battlefield. If you kill the dogs, I kill you...
Irish Warriors Sprue // Victrix Miniatures
The set comes with forty-two miniatures, broken down into twenty-eight Irish Warriors, for Armoured Nobles and Chieftains, two Dog Handlers, eight Irish Wolfhounds, and then a variety of weapons, shields and cloaks that give you many ways to craft your perfect warband.
Irish Command & Dogs Sprue // Victrix Miniatures
This is available right now, so if you want to start your journey into the Dark Ages, Early Medieval period and such with the Irish, this is ready to go! The Victrix sprues are fantastic and will be perfect for those diving into games like Pillage, SAGA and Midgard Heroic Battles, to name just three games.
What do you make of the Irish Warriors?

The dogs? 🤡
Those aren’t proper Dark Age Irish. They’re wearing clothes for crying out loud. Not a dangly bit in sight!
you seem to have mistaken the Irish for either the Vikings or the Iron Age Celts
Command dogs!!! Any army that has dogs in command has to be the goodest army….
Cry havoc and let slip the – who’s a good doggie of war? Who’s a good doggie?!?
My collection could probably do with a little Irish in it
