Axia Tease More Stunning Old World Halflings For New Kickstarter!
September 10, 2026 by avernos
Giuseppe has teased some more miniatures for Axia's Tales of the Old World upcoming September Kickstarter. Tales of the Old World: Revenge of the Mad Count! Based on Piotr Chrzanowski's stunning artwork. This time around, we're seeing more of the non-human mercenaries.

This set of teasers may be diminutive in stature, but that in no way reduces their fighting effectiveness when summoned to fight for the Count, or in defence of their own corner of the realm.
First off, we have a fighting halfling with a sharp sword and battered shield, that cock has taken a pounding over the years, as we can see from the damaged texturing on the shield's blazon. Dressed in slashed silks that have seen better days, he's a quintessential fighter. Ready for action and second breakfast!
There is also a version with a steak tenderiser and a stake to go with it, very handy when hunting the undead, I expect! Not sure if these will be separate sculpts or one body with arm options, we've seen both in the past from Axia. Either way, they look ready for action.
Another fighter armed with a mighty mallet is Timmy the Tiny (probably not, I've not seen Giuseppe's backstory for them yet). A more substantial cauldron on his bake will hopefully protect him from the attacks he can't dodge due to being blinded by the "helmet". Also, that halfling is hench, as the kids say.
Famously good poach...*ahem* hunters, it would be remiss if there weren't a couple of bow halflings in the group. Again, we have another based on that first dolly, subtle changes in the pothelm and lack of a toasting fork, but otherwise the same, means it could be an ideal candidate for a hero with options, especially if you're playing Mordheim, where gear can change as fortunes do.
My favourite of the halfmen though has got to be this fellow, arrow-nocked and ready to rock. The flamboyant hat just adds something to the slashed silks he is already wearing, setting him apart from the others. The five halflings are already looking great and really show how something as simple as a weapon swap can change the silhouette of the figure so much that it looks like a completely different figure.
I couldn't not tease the Mad Count himself toasting his band of ne'er-do-wells for another job well done, or perhaps he is saluting a valiant fallen foe. Whatever way you choose to look at it, he is a magnificent figure to take to the tabletop. You don't want to come within reach of that bastard sword because if he doesn't have you with that I'm sure that there is a main gauche nearby to do the mission instead.
The campaign launches later this month with an 18-model core force and can grow through a series of unlockable freebies and paid add-ons. As with Axia’s previous campaigns, there are options for both physical miniatures and digital STL files, with the Golden Pledge for Tribes members and All-In pledges offering an increasingly hefty haul for collectors looking to get the most from the campaign.
The only question is which miniatures will be part of the stretch goals and which will be in that initial core set. Regardless of how they are set, any Avelander worth their salt will want to get their hands on the full collection.
What do you think of these new previews?
