Gundam Assemble by amachan

We start off this week's Community Spotlight by having a look at what amachan has been doing alongside John and others from the community for the Gundam Assemble Zaku Painting Showcase. amachan produced, as is classically amachan, an awesome pink Zaku for us to enjoy.

Gundam Assemble #1 by amachan

This miniature was finished just one day before the deadline and I think it looks brilliant. The first thing that caught me was the pop of the metallic pink that serves as the focal point of the miniature. That serious candy pink looks brilliant and is then made all the cooler by the addition of all that dirt and grime to ground the miniature in its own reality.

Gundam Assemble #2 by amachan

As you will have seen with what John did for his Zaku, amachan has done some work to slightly repose the miniature to make it look more dynamic. I will also shout out the awesome battle damage that you see on show with the miniature. I love all the scratches and dents that you see, placing this humble Zaku right into the heart of the action.

Gundam Assemble #3 by amachan

The awesome work on the rocket launcher firing as the Zaku takes cover is also excellent. There's a real sense of action and I think the painting on the flare from the exhaust and such really helps to sell the look of the final scene. I also appreciate the little bit of distinction in the final scheme when it comes to the red on the back and the darker, black elements. A super cool Zaku for the painting showcase.

Outremer by SirHumphreyRtd

Next up, we're turning to the Medieval period and what SirHumphreyRtd has been working on. They have taken a sidestep from the Dark Ages and explore the battles of the Crusades with some brilliant warriors for the Islamic armies under the command of the likes of Salah ad-Din Yasuf ibn Ayyub (Saladin).

Outremer #1 by SirHumphreyRtd

I was immediately caught by the work on Saladin himself. I think the bright colours, especially the yellows and greens, work so well and help to sell the look for the real-life character. The illustration from the front cover of Osprey's Islamic Armies was the inspiration for the paint job and I think it has worked very well. This is one of the awesome Gripping Beast figures for this growing army.

Outremer #2 by SirHumphreyRtd

As well as that, SirHumphreyRtd has been working away on other cavalry elements for the army. For example, above, you can see the General and their bodyguard. Again, going for the bright colours really highlights the look and feel of the period. I really like all the subtle patterning in the "horse curtains" for the general, which gives the impression of a much more detailed texture. You have to love those ace shield designs as well. Thank the gods for transfers.

Outremer #3 by SirHumphreyRtd

This is by no means all of the miniatures for this particular collection and the Islamic army that has been building very quickly over the course of the last few weeks and months. I think they look brilliant and way more interesting when sat next to the classic Crusaders. There's nothing wrong with all those tabards and chainmail but the brighter colours of the Islamic forces are alluring!

Don't Look Back by denzien

Last but not least, we're going to be having a look at a game that is always at the forefront of my mind. denzien has been working away on some of the killers for Don't Look Back, an excellent solo and cooperative Horror miniatures game.

Dont Look Back #1 by denzien

denzien has been chatting about setting up a brand-new Halloween game for work and thought about going through the first scenario from Don't Look Back. Its classic fodder that sees teenagers camping in the woods and being picked off by the camp counsellor! These were downloaded and printed from Black Site and I think they're looking great.

Dont Look Back #2 by denzien

The miniatures here are for the Camp Counsellor, the Beast and the Lakeside Killer. I really like how they have come together, especially the Beast. I also think the bases for these miniatures are excellent and really help to sell the look of those forests, woodlands and camps that you see in classic American Horror movies.

Dont Look Back #3 by denzien

This is a return to a project that was last updated back in 2025 when denzien was getting ready for a bit of a Christmas killathon. I also really like the boards that denzien has for playing their games! They immediately look incredibly welcoming and fun to play on. If you'd like to see more about Don't Look Back, you can see games being played, miniatures being painted and more over on their project.
