Strike HQ From Themeborne Returns With Brand New Look!

Themeborne, the creators of the Escape The Dark... series of games, are going to be coming back to Gamefound soon with their campaign for Strike HQ. You might remember this from 2022. Well, the game is now back, reworked and with a distinct new retro art style!

Strike HQ has been designed as a two-player, head-to-head battle card game with an art style that wouldn't be out of place on the arcade machines of the 80s and 90s. The game is inspired by those retro RTS (Real-Time Strategy) games of the past, with Themeborne's mix of innovative game mechanics that they are known for.

On one side, you have the Bastions and on the other, we have the Liberators. They are in classic red versus blue, which is another iconic callback to the days of yore and the PC games that you might have played as a kid.

Whilst the game shares the same name as its older 2022 iteration, I would imagine that there have been a few tweaks in the past few years when it comes to the way it plays. A tightening up of the mechanics.

You will still be constructing bases, deploying units and then launching strikes on your opponent. Players each make use of simultaneous turns, adding to the intensity of your gameplay, heightened again by the fog of war mechanics, which mean that you're not going to be totally sure what's coming for you unless you plan ahead. There are also no dice involved in Strike HQ, so player skill will be key to victory.

I really like the new look for Strike HQ and I am eager to see how the game works. I was a big fan of the 2022 iteration before it was shelved so I can see myself going for what Themeborne are doing here with this version of Strike HQ.
