We’ve made it to Friday šĀ Up early this morning to open the doors and windows and let all the hot out of the house.Ā The weather warning for hot weather is over so hopefully we’ll be getting some more usual temperatures for late spring here in Blighty.
I’ve knocked off another unit in the SCC army.Ā Updates are on their project page.Ā Getting close to finishing now.Ā Only 3 units and 3 character bases left but of course I’ve decided to add another miniature?!?Ā I’m still confident of getting it all done in time.

How did that happen? oO Haven’t done much hobby since Tuesdays stream with all the magnets but I played two games of Dreamscape Collision with my mate. It was a draw. The game really is fun and fast but the rules leave way too much room for interpretation on some points XD So I did what all well adjusted people do: I printed a copy of the rules and every time we reach a point of discussion I take note on the printout and I will send them to the devs XD
Sidenote on UKGE: I’ve noticed OTT only does shorts currently on reporting on UKGE. And I’m not a fan of it. Here’s hoping there will be proper videos down the line. (Not a real criticism, I just don’t like the shorts/tiktok format)
May 30, 2026 at 7:55 pm #1975764As time is all wibbledy-wobbly I’ll add music appropriate for the 3rd ed. 40k enthusiasm I saw at one time.
I think that the push to get more smaller shots out of the show has been the idea. The long episodes with deep dives into the event seem to get views but not great for YT algorithm selection. The attention economy and engagement seems to be the crux of the matter.
May 31, 2026 at 12:42 pm #1975826Gods that terrible. And not in a good way.
Sunday. No XLBS, slight headache and tired as flock.
Anybody have an idea for the coming week? Doesn’t look like we need a new thread, this on is barely used.
Pledge: Paint more ‘nids.
Bad taste music:
May 31, 2026 at 2:49 pm #1975836Continuing with writing rulebook and making my terrain boards.
Put this guy together. Thanks @sundancer for the recommendation of vallejo plastic putty, this guy had some gaps. Worked flawlessly and really nice to use.
As far as the question, I only really played bolt action and dead man’s had, I didn’t manage to recruit anyone, I play by supplying everything people need to play. š¤£

May 31, 2026 at 3:07 pm #1975843Failed my pledge. Only spent Ā£110 at UK Games Expo. Disappointed I didn’t find anything that leapt out and said “Buy me!”
Do plan to paint some of the minis I picked up on friday, specifically Rik and Eddie, the Foul Flatmates by Crooked Dice. Also working on ‘Ecto-1’ that I’m using as an ambulance because I haven’t found a decent ambulance anywhere else.
Should really try to paint Phoenix, but I’m having so much fun writing for my Marvel Universe campaign that it’s consuming my days… but in a good way.
So I guess my pledge is keep writing.
May 31, 2026 at 3:41 pm #1975846This week’s pledge will to be start painting elemental models from Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
May 31, 2026 at 10:40 pm #1975861Super rainy, flood rain levels as the mountains have a lot of snow. So I am stuck inside.
Made my conversion of a Chaos Lord of Nurgle on a Nurgle-tainted Manitocore for Warhammer Old World. Wings from Mortarion, Lord from flying pus bugs, lots of gribbly parts from Nurgle Beast.
May 31, 2026 at 10:54 pm #1975862lots of gribbly parts
You got that right!Ā Looks amazing.Ā Great job on the conversion.
Pledge:Ā Get another unit finished for the SCC.Ā Only 3 weeks left but I’m getting close to done now.
On the UKGE coverage here.Ā I was disappointed when I heard that there would be no live coverage each day.Ā As it happens they have replaced that with shorts.Ā They don’t give much more than a taster of anything but it is still useful for those of us not able to go.Ā Those and the interviews compilation video at the end of the day add up to about the same amount of coverage as I remember there being before.Ā We just don’t have the filler bits with Warren and Gerry chatting in the fish bowl.

Which are the most important parts! Plus the in depth interviews on the sofa are missing! *sad face*
And in other, more grim news: it’s Monday.
June 3, 2026 at 7:27 pm #1976172Interesting update from OTT FacePage.Ā The Coleraine physical store and gaming space will be closing later this month.Ā This means:
For OnTableTop, our focus is now moving more fully into global content creation, journalism, new shows, and a major studio refit at Riverhouse. To make that possible, we need to refocus the space and prepare for the next stage of OnTableTopās work.
Exciting times ahead around here then.Ā As I understand it there is a competitor who opened in a nearby location and perhaps that helped make minds up about the move to digital only.Ā I’m excited about the new shows and content.Ā Now some boring waiting for everything to start.
June 3, 2026 at 7:57 pm #1976173That makes sense. The main benefit of the hobby space for the channel was supposed to be hosting gaming weekends, but they’ve not happened since Covid. Being able to focus on pure content going forwards should be good for the channel.
Plus I doubt Coleraine can support two hobby shops, so the last thing we’d want is the store to become a financial drain on OTT.
June 3, 2026 at 10:22 pm #1976192Being able to focus on pure content going forwards should be good for the channel.
Let’s hope so.Ā With extra space again perhaps we’ll see some of the massive table builds that the channel used to do.Ā I’d certainly like to see VLOGs or whatever the next gen of following the stages of a project through development to completion looks like.Ā That was a point of difference for the channel as this isn’t done in the same way elsewhere.
I know plenty of OTTers would like to see a return to participatory events and perhaps there is a way to do this online as well as face-to-face.
June 4, 2026 at 12:32 pm #1976222In some ways it makes sense there is more hobby stores up there. The North Coast is full of retirees and weekend holiday home owners. The weather is dreadful usually so in door hobbies make sense. One day I hope to get a holiday home there….I can dream š Changed alot since my days there as a student in the 80’s
