UPDATED: Butcher & Bolt Busts Stretch Goals! Last Week On Gamefound
May 15, 2026 by brennon
Butcher & Bolt from Lasting Games is moving into its final week on Gamefound and it has been going great guns. For those not in the know, it's a great sandbox World War II skirmish game all about lightning-fast raids and covert operations behind enemy lines, with loads of support for different modes of play.
UPDATE: Who Dares Wins! All In Pledge
With the Butcher & Bolt Gamefound campaign entering its final week, several major additions are set to arrive this afternoon — most notably the new Who Dares Wins All-In Pledge. The bundle is designed as the complete Butcher & Bolt experience, combining the core game with every currently revealed Operation Pack while effectively giving prospective backers an extra full weekend to jump into the campaign before it closes. Two new expansions, Operation Anthropoid and Operation Flipper, will launch alongside the pledge and will also be available separately as individual Add-Ons.
Among the newly revealed additions is Operation Anthropoid, a branching campaign set in occupied Czechoslovakia between late 1941 and mid-1942. Inspired by the real-world mission to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, the pack focuses on covert resistance operations, escalating consequences, and interconnected missions where player success or failure can dramatically alter the path of the campaign.
The second new expansion, Operation Flipper, shifts the action to the North African theatre and follows a daring British Commando raid targeting Erwin Rommel deep behind Axis lines in Libya. Featuring desert warfare conditions and split-force decision making, the three-mission campaign introduces a very different style of gameplay centred on reconnaissance, infiltration, and high-risk extraction.
Gameplay Overview // Butcher & Bolt
The game focuses on a fusion between tactical tension and the narrative depth that you'd expect from a game all about covert operations behind enemy lines. The options present in the toolkit for the game and the various Operation Packs give you a chance to play out single missions or full campaigns that move from scenario to scenario, linked by your actions.
At the core of the game and the offering from Lasting Games, you have the Core Components Box (funnily enough!). This comes with everything that you need to get playing when it comes to the components for Butcher & Bolt.

From here, you'll just need the rules (available physically and as a PDF for backers) and you're ready to go. The game also makes use of whatever World War II miniatures you have in your collection. The Gamefound campaign and Lasting Games recommend the likes of Warlord Games, Wargames Atlantic and Victrix but you could of course pick up whatever you like to play your games. The games you play from that point are then dictated by the campaigns and single missions that you want to dive into.

Butcher & Bolt! NEW WW2 Commando Miniatures Game
This should give you a good idea of what the game is like before you dive in and consider backing the project. But, with all of that for you to dive into, it's great that Lasting Games has unlocked even more over the course of the campaign.
Stretch Goals Unlocked!
The first of these is nice and simple and a good quality of life addition to the game.
Action Cards & Map Sheets // Butcher & Bolt
Each of the Core Component Boxes from the campaign will now come with two thick stock Action Reference Cards and three laminated dry-erasable maps. These will be very helpful for those who are checking out rules in the midst of the action and wanting to set up interesting scenarios.
Next, we have two Operations which have also ben unlocked by the backers in order to enhance the offerings for your scenario play.
Operation Collar // Butcher & Bolt
Operation Collar Details // Butcher & Bolt
Operation Collar is a four-mission boxed set that comes with a great campaign based around the actions of the British Commandos. The idea behind this set is that it features a series of raids that all took place around the same time so you could play it with a club and have all of them running, interacting with each other and making for a really dynamic set-up for your World War II clashes.
Could you take the relatively inexperienced British Commandos from this time period and perform better than they did during this particular mission?
Operation Woodpecker has also been unlocked for those wanting to dive into a clash where British and Partisan forces clashed with the Germans.

Operation Woodpecker Details // Butcher & Bolt
This four-mission campaign would be great for three players to dive into. You can split the British and the Partisans between two players, whilst another takes on the role of the Germans. Remember that all of the missions in Butcher & Bolt can be played in various modes, including solitaire if you'd prefer.
This is another mission inspired by historical events of the time and, interestingly, the Allies don't actually know what they are attempting to deal with at the start. Can the British and the Partisans piece together the information and stop the Germans before it's too late?
Equally, the Germans are also going to be on the back foot as you try and work out what to do to stop the raiding forces before things turn to chaos. I love it. This gives you a good look at some of the Operations that are available as part of this campaign for Butcher & Bolt. This is by no means everything that Lasting Games has on offer.
Make sure to go and check out the Gamefound Campaign for more information!
