About the Project
Hey guys, so 2020 Spring Hobby Challenge is here and I am ready to get some minis painted. Got the usual storage area full of never started projects and the odd partially done ones. Rather than bog myself down in large forces, I have decided to attack the skirmish style games. Hope you guys enjoy and any questions or comments please drop them in and I will do my best to answer them for you. So got my shades on, my hair is looking good, AK is loaded, my new Adidas tracksuit is freshly ironed and I'm wearing my best flip flops, let's do this people!

Learning how to 3d print, getting there slowly but surely and loving the mini and terrain options out there!
Got a thread going in the forms with more details but this does count to Spring Hobby so I guess I should post some pics here too. I had the printer for maybe a month before the end of civilisation got me to open it, have to admit I was pretty intimidated by it all but a couple of weeks on I am enjoying myself and addicted.
The crazy level of detail on the axe shows the potential for producing some truly lovely minis and this is definitely a technology that is seeing incredible growth in hardware and software on a yearly basis.
Painting a printed mini
So having finally found some settings that work for me I have been printing minis with a game in mind.
I decided to use the Titan Forge Dragon Empire minis for Frostgrave, a nice Asian feel.
The first mini I printed is a Geisha who is going to be my Wizard.
I went with a green colour inspired by the bamboo forest scenes of The House of Flying Daggers, a theme I plan to carry through the force.

A lovely model to paint and I look forward to adding to this Frostgrave Warband. I am still deciding on how to base the force as a whole so will come back to them when I have my idea locked in.
Here are the final images.
Getting some colour onto my final test mini for my Death Korp of Krieg
Still a work in progress and hoping to carry on with him tomorrow. Will add the new images as I go until it is finished. I wasn’t happy with the Tallarn Sand so ended up changing it to Dawnstone and then gave it a wash of Nuln Oil which was much better.
A quick 1 hour colour test for a buddy mainly using Contrasts on a Space Marine.
Yes I know he doesn’t have his backpack, what can I say they don’t make Space Marines like they used to hopefully this link will work okay for people to watch the video if they wish to.
The idea was to colour test using mainly contrasts for a Space Wolves Space Marines as my buddy waned some different tones, more grey less blue. Really happy with how it came out and was just a little over an hour for a good tabletop standard I think.

Got the Gunner finished for the Heavy Weapon Squad.
So got the Gunner to go with the spotter done today. Waiting to glue his arms on until I have the Autocannon built to better align them to the weapon.
This time went straight for the Dawnstone instead of Tallarn Sand for the ankle wraps. Still think they are too bright so gonna do another wash of Nuln Oil on them tomorrow. Everything else is done using the process on the previous mini.
I have ordered some Ardcoat as I want to try putting it into the eye area to see if I can give it a strong gloss effect representing they have glass or acrylic in them.
Hoping to have the gun done tomorrow.
The Autocannon is finished now just waiting for the base to print and then will paint that and bring it all together.
Slowly bringing it all together. The only colours outside of my earlier posts for the gun team is the ones I used for the casings in the ammo drum.

Once the base is printed and prepper will get some paint on it and bring it all together. After this I can dive into the rest of my heavy weapons teams.
