Painting Marvel Crisis Protocol With 144Artist

About the Project
I have some very good friends who chipped in to pick up the newest core box for Marvel Crisis Protocol for my birthday present. One of the benefits of celebrating in my Friendly Local Game Store apparently. While I have wanted to paint some of these minis since I first saw them, I haven't been sure about diving into the entire game. Well, two of our group are completely addicted so I will have folks to play the game with, unlike my Burrows and Badgers undertakings. I must admit to being a little overwhelmed by the contents of the Core Set. There are all the rules, templates, counters, dice, terrain, and minis needed to play. Speaking of the minis, there are 13 in the new set and they are wonderful little sculpts, great detail and movement. I think this is going to be fun. Now I just need to avoid diving into the deep end and trying to acquire everything. Anyone who has been following this blog will know I have failed to restrain myself. Despite still not having played the game I have just about every character made and two thirds of them are painted. At least I'm getting some good work done.

Shadowlands Dare Devil Steps Into the Light
Gotta admit that I painted this guy well over a year ago and he has been in my “To Be Photographed” backlog ever since. Now That I have figured out a good place to shoot minis I am slowly catching up.
I love the costume design and the storyline it all comes from is wonderfully dark. The pose is rather static, especially for DD, but it works for the lurking crime lord he is in the story. I really like that he and Elektra can summon Hand Ninjas and look forward to seeing how that works in game. More on her next post.
Werewolf By Night Howls His Greetings
Werewolf By Night is another character I only had passing comic book experience but who doesn’t love a tragic hero werewolf? Great pose, clean details, and easy assembly so a winner all around. He is the last of the four monster set so my collection of them is now complete.

Mums (or Should I Say Mummys) the Word For N'kantu the Living Mummy
I never read these comics and only know what I do about N’Kantu the Living Mummy from the podcast Fury’s Finest. Such a great show for fans of Marvel and MCP. They talk lore, comic appearances, rules, and interactions with other characters and teams. He’s a great mini, creepy and frightening in equal measures. A lot of fun to paint, as with most of AMG’s sculpts.
Frankenstein's Monster, or Adam, is here to Join the Monster Mash!
I really like this set of minis. Classic movie monsters were never my first choice when buying comics but I liked them. Heck, I loved the old films so was psyched to get to work on this set. AMG has really done a great job on all four of these. If I could afford it I would pick up the Ruins of Dracula’s Castle as a display base. I don’t care what any of them do in game, I just love that they are in the game.
The Prince of Darkness Arrives
So with Man-Thing and Eva Bloodstone done , it is time to increase the population of Movie Monsters in my collection. No better place to start than with Vlad Dracula, the Prince of Darkness. Such a great sculpt with movement and wonderful details. I just love the bats flying about him.
Bringing Judgement Astride a Demonic Motorcycle
Ghost Rider was one of the first Marvel characters I became aware of and even though I never really collected any of the titles he appeared in, I read a lot of the stories. He was simultaneously scary and cool to a little kid. Such a great visual with the flaming skull and wheels. I tried to paint the chain glowing within, like lava.
The Introitus of Exodus
Exodus is another character I only have a passing knowledge of. He started up about the same time I got bored with where Marvel was going in comics. I have little memory of what he did in the comics so have absolutely no idea what he does in the game. He has that overly complex costume design of the 90’s but was fun to paint.
