To me, the only point of interest in taking Astorath is that he allows you to play with death company based armies. And i’m not sure it’s a good point. Other than that, he’s just an expensive jump packed reclusiarch… Would be much more intersting if shadow of the primarch was not a dice roll (and he had more attacks probably).
I like the model, nice sculpt if you look past the wings , surprisingly easy to get a half decent paint job on due to the amount of raised details on the armour.
I just superglued mine together , no greenstuff (wings hide the join on the jetpack) and its still in one piece, the only concern I would have is the wings themselves, the joint to the jetpack isnt as strong as I would perhaps like.
It is a great model, nice little details and killer pose.
I use him in my Death Company army, where he really shines. I haven’t tried him on any other type of army, since there are better choices to play with but I’ll give him a try. Meanwhile I’m having a blast playing DC armies.
Like the model very much. Pity the head is pre molded on the model. Had a great idea about converting him into a Future version of the Grimreaper
use him and Lemartes in my DC army, only use him in DC army though otherwise its Dante and the Sanguinor more often than not
I love the death company, I think a squad of 5 with power weapons and jump packs with lemartes in a stormraven, flat out across the battlefield and let them loose, works more often than you think ahead of that rage rule
7:40 Pink Flamingo and 7:52 Bore My a$$? WTF? LOL. He’s got cross dressing and dirty stuff in this post! Beware!!!! Hahahaha!
would you rather be told to bend over by Astorath or Sanguinor?
Darrel, it’s ASTORATH (As·to·rath) not Azeroth 😛 Great unboxing btw !!!! Kudos
Methinks someone has been playing too much WOW 😉
He’s not an IC, so you can’t attach him to a unit.
He’s a MC, and dies like one too.
Its a nice model, but I really can’t see using him in a game…
I must be a retard who can’t read, because the last time i looked in the Blood Angel codex, he has the independent character special rule. It’s a shame i cant read and post random crap…….
You might have him confused with the Sanguinor or Mephiston. Astorath is the other winged guy, the one who lets you field Death Company as troops.
Looking at my Codex Astorath is an independent character, actually.
I think, however, in anything other than a DC army he could actually make it worse as the Shadow of the Primarch rule does give you furious charge but does not give you Feel no Pain. It instead makes you fearless which could lead a fast assault type army to take extra wounds. Furious charge and feel no Pain come from Priests in their nice little 6″ bubbles.
and he has a 4+ invulnerable save
Death Company are troops already but Astorath lifts the 0-! restriction from them.
I’m getting back into 40K after a long hiatus, and will start with Death Company. I will be using Astorath (HQ) with 5 jump pack DC (troop), a DC Dreadnaught with Blood Talons (troop), and a jump pack equipped Chaplain (elite) in my 750pt Death Company army. I will upgrade the dreadnaught with a dedicated drop pod at a later time.
Comments always welcome…
