Games Workshop Preview Shiny Limited Edition Space Marine Codex

Games Workshop are homing in on the release of the new Space Marine Codex for 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000 and whilst you can get your hands on the standard edition and special edition hardback, there is also going to be a Limited Edition version up for grabs.

This third version of the Codex has been described as for the mega-fans out there (which probably means it's going to sell out pretty quickly). It comes in a slipcase, as you can see, but the cover also features a magnetic cover, allowing you to change out the emblem on the front.

The emblems cover the Ultramarines, Raven Guard, Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, Salamanders and the White Scars. You can decide to change out whatever suits your Chapter of choice whilst you're displaying this version of the codex on your shelf at home.

The Limited Edition Codex for the Space Marines also comes with a bunch of extras. You'll get a metal Crux Terminatus that you can use to show off your pedigree plus all sorts of useful gameplay aids that you'll find helpful when you're playing your games.

Space Marine Cards & Tokens // Warhammer 40,000

The Space Marines Command Pack, which is also available separately, comes with all of your reference cards for helping you remember key Detachment abilities and such during games, plus a set of tokens so you can mark when units have used various actions. The set also comes with a series of six art prints which represent the different Chapters that we mentioned above.

You have art for the Ultramarines, Raven Guard, Iron Hands, White Scars, Salamanders and Imperial Fists. Time to head down to IKEA and get yourself some frames so you can show those off in your hobby room. The Limited Edition is, as you might have guessed, a hardback, just like the Special Edition Codex and comes with all of the same contents as the mainstay Codex.

The new Codex delves into the background of the Space Marines in a new way, exploring the inner workings of a Fortress Monastery, as well as looking at the wider conflicts spreading amongst the stars and how the Space Marines are embroiled in them.

Some are familiar and some are new. Remember that with the Detachments in 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000, they all have a points cost assigned to them, so you can do a lot of mixing and matching to make the Space Marine force that works for you. Some Detachments are focused on a particular Chapter and their method of warfare but that doesn't mean you can't get stuck in and change things to suit your homebrew Chapter.
