Para Bellum Games has some monstrous new creations for you to add to their 35mm-scale Fantasy wargames, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings and First Blood. The Old Dominion and the Sorcerer Kings have some fun new dual kits.

Tainted Heralds - Conquest

Tainted Heralds // Conquest

We start with the Old Dominion and their Dual Kit for the Tainted Heralds and the Fallen Angels. Many of the great heroes and saints of the Dominion, known as Heralds, were encased in stone and metal within these towering ornate statues. Hazlia’s Fall gave them new life and now they can be summoned to fight on the battlefield using dark powers and mystical skill.

The Tainted Heralds can advance ahead of your main army and outflank the enemy but that is just one way to use them in The Last Argument of Kings. You could also empower them with Heaven's Descent and have them crash into the enemy at their full potential.

Alternatively, these miniatures can be built as the Fallen Angels.

Fallen Angels - Conquest

Fallen Angels // Conquest

Their ability to fly makes them incredibly useful to the Old Dominion but they really shine when used in the late game when they can make the most of your power tokens. Much like with the Tainted Heralds, they provide Old Dominion players with a choice. Do you burn through your resources early but limit the power of your army as a whole, or do you keep them back for a choice moment that might never appear?

Both sets of miniatures look great and continue that hauntingly uncanny feel of the Old Dominion. I think I prefer the look of the Fallen Angels but the flame-wreathed style of the Tainted Heralds is very cool.

Sorcerer Kings

As well as the towering new miniatures for the Old Dominion, we also have the magically enhanced Eternal Destroyers and Eternal Ikons for the Sorcerer Kings.

Eternal Destroyers - Conquest

Eternal Destroyers // Conquest

Eternals see perfection as the ultimate goal and if they're perfect, that means that surely everything else that they see before them should be too? If you're not perfect, you need to be dashed to pieces by their hand so you can be cleansed from creation. Eternals also benefit from being pretty damn old, so they are peerless warriors and when coupled with their resilience and ability to restore their bodies, they are a fairly unstoppable force.

Eternal Destroyers rain down a storm of attacks on their enemies, tearing through lightly armoured troops with ease. They even get more powerful and deadly as combat continues, getting access to rerolls and additional Clash actions.

You also have the Eternal Ikons as a different option within this kit.

Eternal Ikons - Conquest

Eternal Ikons // Conquest

If the Eternal Destroyers were resilient, the Ikons are even more so. The real strength of the Ikons is that your enemy is going to have to overcommit to deal with them because if they survive the initial assault, they are going to make a mess of your army. Use them in combination with the Destroyers and you've got a real headache for your enemy to solve on the battlefield.

Again, these miniatures look great and I was immediately put in mind of some of the classic enemies you would have seen in Sinbad movies and shows! I think you could do some really impressive paint jobs on these miniatures, playing around with lots of different gemstone colours, stone types and metallics.

What do you make of the new miniatures coming out of Para Bellum Games for Conquest?
