In today’s update for Joan of Arc, Mythic games released a video from Mythic Games Keynote @ Warboar Games – July 2018.
The video link below starts the discussion about the Coconuts joke that some may know about. All is revealed including new details about their up and coming WWII boardgame.
Details include game mechanics, game art, potential miniatures to come and other details because Leo likes to spill the beans.
Good stuff
Nice to see a ‘Mythic Games shows off their Coconuts’ headline that isn’t from an article about us getting arrested… :p
I thought it was funny! I was surprised to see info about the new game. Wish I could make it to the Cons to see more.
Man, so glad we didn’t do the Keynote at BoW, otherwise @warzan may have made us show off all our coconuts 😛
I believe @warzan is on holiday. I am sure he will be back to break some of Justin’s Coconuts when he returns 🙂
BTW, Az, excellent presentation! It was hilarious!
Aww thanks so much @turbocooler 🙂 Was really a privilege to get to do it.
So this is a co-operative alt WW2 miniatures game. No scale? Seems aimed (as with all previous KS) to be bling heavy to pull in the cash. Will never be seen post KS just like JoA and Solomon Kane.
Depending on scale and price the plastic might be useful for other games. Somehow I suspect they will pick some odd non wargaming scale thus rendering them useless.
In the key note address Leo and Az said that this game will be aimed at retail after the kickstarter so @tankkommander it should see the light of day after KS. The price point should be below that of soloman Kane
@tankkommander: I think it might be a bit judgemental to categorically state that just like Jeanne d’Arc and Solomon Kane this will never be seen post KS. The two aformentioned games have not been released yet so there is no empirical evidence to support such a claim.
Watch the video, they answer your questions. You are making assumption without fact.
JoA the discussion about retail was gone through during the campaign and it became clear that although Mythic would like it to go to retail it was very unlikely to ever happen. They put so much in to the box and expansions that they would be prohibitively expensive as a retail proposition.
This can be the fate of KS which offer a lot of plastic during the campaign. Either you buy the full game with all the bells and whistles at KS, or you might see a slimmed down version for retail.
I don’t follow KS that closely any more as these kinds of games don’t interest me. I can usually tell a KS game if it ever appears at retail because it launches with multiple expansions on day 1.
