28mm Scale Movie Monsters Return Via Eureka Miniatures
July 28, 2026 by brennon
Eureka Miniatures has re-released a selection of fun 28mm scale miniatures for those wanting to introduce some spooky, movie horrors to their Pulp and Fantasy wargames. Originally sculpted by John Jenkins, they are now available once again.
Chinese Hopping Vampires // Eureka Miniatures
First up, we have the classic Hopping Vampires that so many folks will remember from movies from the 80s and 90s. You get two undead Chinese fellows who have been awoken and are now looking to suck your blood! They are also posed in a cool way to suggest they are indeed hopping.
The other two fellows have been stopped in their tracks by prayers and sacred words pinned to their foreheads, which keep the vampires from causing chaos! There was a martial arts movie I watched ages ago which featured these Hopping Vampires and for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of it. It was exceedingly bloody.
If you're looking for zombies to accompany your vampires, you can also pick up the Terracotta Zombie Warrior Horde.
Terracotta Zombie Warrior Horde // Eureka Miniatures
This is a great set of zombie warriors for Fantasy or Pulp adventures that take place on the other side of the world. I could see some dashing Pulp adventurer shooting these, the terracotta falling away to reveal the zombie beneath! Maybe even go all Dynasty Warriors and have your epic heroes battling against hordes of these instead?
If you then want something big and dangerous to fight as a boss during your Pulp adventures, how about the Jade Mummy?

It looks like nothing could keep this fellow locked away within his tomb. I could imagine this glittering, shaking mummy stumbling down a dark corridor, the flickering torch light illuminating the horror before you!
Retro Pulp!
As well as those terrifying horrors from the past, you can also pick up some fun Zombie Communist Party members from Eureka, sculpted by Mike Broadbent.

As Eureka Miniatures mention in their blog post about these miniatures, even when you're dead, you're red! I can imagine something terrible happened during a ritual or something of the sort and now you need to make sure you take out the shambling horde rushing through the streets of a Chinese city.
All of these would be great for a range of different Pulp wargames, Fantasy adventures and everything else in between.
Are you going to be picking these up?

Fundead!
Mr Vampire was the film I remember with the hopping vampires, great fun
Maybe that’s the one? I will have to do some searching online…
I picked up the hopping vamps and terracotta warriors before through Eureka a long while ago but I don’t recall them being a special order. *shrug* Might’ve been but I’ll say the customer service was great. I’m not a fan of the jade mummy despite the historical accuracy. It all goes together well with Scotia Grendel’s Fantasy Chinese stuff.
Now those are nice and unique, but isn’t “Zombie Communist” a bit redundant?
WTF?
So many fun sculpts here, even if a bit dated by modern standards – Eureka still holds a place in lead world.
