About the Project
I'm collecting two armies in 10m to recreate the battle of Quatre Bras the prelude to Waterloo. This will be for the Blackpowder game system. I've never painted minis this small before but I think the battle can be better represented at this scale.

Tree trouble
Hills and crossroads
The main objective for the battle is the crossroads which now has some buildings and a tree. Making some hills was a bit hit and miss I got some spring grass flock from woodland scenics because the mat is spring grass. Yet the two don't really match. I also got another mat to extend the field. It was also meant to be spring grass but was darker. Bit if a pain they don't match but I'll see how it looks when done. Feels a bit old school in my approach to putting this table togetherFly the flag

Opening moves
The British deploy artillery in the main road to face the fast marching French who after coming under fire press out across the field
Reinforcements for the allies appear from the rear in the form of black Brunswickers as the Brits deploy at the base of the hillThe onslaught
The approaching French begin to near and the allies decide attack is the best form of defence and deploy to meet them. Artillery from both sides soften up the opposing sides.
A firefight sees the Highlanders follow the 95 off the table as the Brunswickers hurry to fill the gaps before the French role up the British left
The Dutch dragoons charge down the main Street into the infantry scattering French coloumns before close to exhaustion returned to the safety of their lines
The two sides redress the ranks as the French receive cavalry reinforcements who race up the French left towards the prince of orange and the Dutch militia
The British right hit back seeing off a French column and two more quickly break leaving gaps in the French right
Cuirassiers bypassing the squares hit the Dutch militia in line and after wiping them out crash into the next unit along. On either side of the field cavalry does it's damage
The final line of French wracked by cannister shot and close but not close enough to bthe crossroads. Ney orders his forces back as they leave the field to regroup with the Emperor. Wellington heads up the Brussels road to find va good defensive position to wait for the Prussians. It was a close game that worked out as a draw in points butca moral victory for the British who still held the crossroads. First time playing the Absolute emperor rules. Both players got to grips with the system and the rules make sense with the period. I hope to do some smaller games in the future
