### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/
https://www.ontabletop.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Question of the week:
- Less than 10 weeks until Christmas, have you started getting gifts? Are you all set and done?
And now back to the show.
October 19, 2026 at 6:43 am #1987823Pledge: yes. pledge. *coughs* uhm…. SQUIRREL!
Answer: not started yet but looking actively at stuff when it comes by to see if it would be something for wife or daughter. Let’s hope I get stuff done soon’ish XD
Music:
It’s Monday, I need more hot dark fluids.
October 19, 2026 at 7:39 am #1987827This week’s pledge is to finish my Halloween hobby challenge entry. Just metallics and the base to go so I’m on track. I’m not around next week so need to finish this week.
- Less than 10 weeks until Christmas, have you started getting gifts? Are you all set and done? – Not started yet, but will aim to do it in November.
October 19, 2026 at 8:41 am #1987829Pledge: I really need to finish my nightclub terrain project as I need it for a Halloween themed encounter.
Christmas mostly for kids and I don’t have any.
Most of my friends stopped doing gifts years ago because we only bought each other stuff we’d never buy for ourselves.
As for the few remaining gifts, we either swap money, choose a gift for ourselves and buy that, or tell people what we want.
Christmas doesn’t have the same impact now as it did when I was younger.
October 19, 2026 at 8:53 am #1987830Pledge: I’ve got Abyssal Dwarf characters on the painting table to finish off before I get onto the Halloweeny stuff for the PaintComp.
Answer: I generally start thinking about things in September so have a few things already. It is probably just me and my youngest this year so that will make things easier. As a family we do lists of things so people can find something to suit their budget and everyone gets something they actually want. I’m thinking about getting everyone tickets to UKGE this year as a family experience will be good and despite having brought them up to be keen miniature, board and card gamers none of us have ever been.
Let’s get the Led out. I love the introduction to this track. You can hear John Bonham’s broad midlands accent as he counts them in:
October 19, 2026 at 9:04 am #1987831October 19, 2026 at 9:20 am #1987832No pledge this week. In London, fly home tomorrow, off to Nashville, back home next Monday.
Christmas: all done. I bought mrsgrantincalgary something in Edinburgh that has me covered for quite some time.

October 19, 2026 at 4:54 pm #198789710 weeks to Satans’ feast ?
That explains the Christmas crap in shops.I’m not buying any gifts. The best anyone’s gonna get is my presence.

Giftmas will not be happening in the Noseblower house. There is no cheer anymore.
@pagan8th It doesn’t strike the same way at all. Trying to keep an ember alive is difficult.
@zoidpinhead A family outing to experience something together for memories is worth a push. A guy at my FLGS had a grandfather who did model ship building but never got into it. You can lead them to a festival, they can fail finding it fun.
@grantinvanman Your trip is good to clear the brain and find inspiration. May you travel easy
@limburger Christmas parties!?! That involves going out.

Oh noes. This is highly disturbing. Is there some specific reason or is *waves helplessly at the world at large* all this lead to the decline in cheeryness?
October 20, 2026 at 5:07 pm #1987970no christmas parties for me.
I’m crazy, but I’m not that crazy.I do hope everyone can find a bit of light in this deeply disturbing dark & meshuga world of ours.
Please try and think happy thoughts.
if not for yourself then for those around us who need a bit of extra light in their lives.// — edit —

October 21, 2026 at 7:07 am #1987972I know it’s a depressing fact, but suicides increase around xmas. It’s when people feel most alone.
On the upside… the last present my mother bought me was a 60th anniversary illustrated Lord of the Rings. As she died a couple of weeks after that I never unwrapped up. I’m thinking that this year might be the year I finally do so. It feels like the right time. So that’s my xmas day plan.
