@pagan8th that’s rough.
I could say that you should try to remember the happy times, but I also know that’s not easy.// —
I’d say it is also the forced happy-ness and the reminder that for some of us with little to no family left. And with christmas crap getting shoved into our faces earlier every year (or so it seems) … it’s hard to not feel exhausted by the time the actual event arrives.
I really need to think happy thoughts to keep myself from spiralling into darkness.
At least there’s still a bit of the hobby that doesn’t get infected by the idiocy of the real world.// —
This weekend may be the last bit of free time I have before the Halloween happens.
Technically everything is ready, but I’ve got so many ideas still floating (ha!) around and no realistic way of ever completing them. There’s also the small dilemma that the neighbourhood kids have their Halloween thingy on the same say as the co-workers want to grab a byte.
That gives me 3 options :
– skip Halloween and save candy for next year
– put the candy in a bowl for kids to grab and hope they don’t get too greedy
– hand out the candy myself like last yearNot quite sure what to do yet.
October 21, 2026 at 7:20 pm #1988074Sorry to bring the xmas cheer down. It was not my intention.
I had been saving the unwrapping until I retired, but it didn’t feel right last year.
Already own the LotR several times, but there gets a point when people say, “What do you want?” and I thought that would be a nice addition to my library. I want to read more, so starting X-mas days with one of my favourite books seems like the right call.
Never really understood why sweet stuff was connected to halloween. Must be an american thing.

@pagan8th Don’t worry. You’re not the only one right now. I’ve talked to more than one person in the last 48 hours who are “not in a good place” right now and to everyone I say: you’re not alone. Reach out and talk. Even if it’s just writing a letter and then deleting it.
October/November is the time to be extra aware of people who struggle with the black dog.
LotR is the only book so far I’ve read in English and had to use a dictionary from time to time. It was a beast
October 21, 2026 at 8:31 pm #1988093I finished my Halloween model last night. Time for a brief brake from hobby while I go on holiday next week.
October 21, 2026 at 10:51 pm #1988096@danlee Good to get it out
I have an update for project work too. I haven’t got the last unit finished yet but this is a step closer to calling it.
October 22, 2026 at 4:56 pm #1988101@pagan8th don’t worry. I’ve been feeling more than a little depressed lately as well.
It’s worse in the morning when it’s dark outside.
The clankers and things going on out there in the real world aren’t helping either. As @sundancer said : you’re not alone.
I got two kickstarter deliveries in recent days.
There was the Bad Guys 3 kickstarter on monday ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scibor/bad-guys-3-hand-sculpted-miniatures-by-scibor )And Crooked Dice today.
