That is some interrsting looking terrain.
Thanks, I will be building a new table and terrain for our next event on 11-4-16 Holy Wars: Holy Havoc. Check out @HolyWarsGT and @holyhammerhern on twitter to see WIPs shots.
Looking forward to seeing how this plays out, heard a lot about this on the Garagehammer podcast.
Hopefully Dave will invite me back 🙂
Woo- Hoo! Looking forward to this! I don’t care what the naysayers say……. I have a blast every time I play this game… ” ONLY THE FAITHFUL! “
Great terrain, great tournament. Wish I were there!
Great looking stuff – hope everyone has fun
Great coverage ladies, looks like a blast! I got to say that Sand Portal is quite possibly one of the best pieces of terrain I have seen in a long time. So simple but so dynamic and eye-catching at the same time. I really love terrain that doesn’t take attention away from the miniatures, yet still gives the battlefield a strong narrative and that piece nails it!
Love the Holy Wars coverage!!
It was really great to have BoW there just so blown away they would wanted to cover our event.
I wish I could go again this year but thanks for providing the coverage on this live blog and pics on Twitter. Hope everyone has a blast and when I’m home I absolutely want to come back next year. My shield is a permanent part of the dwarf table terrain it appears;)
As always, gorgeous tables and models and the variety in scenarios makes this tournament to notch. Wonderful group of players. Grats to Steve and his crew and I look forward to watching the coverage from overseas.
Ahem, go duardin!
Kenny, hopefully your shield got packed! I expect you to be at our next event on 11-4-16 Holy Wars: Holy Havoc.
I’m actually very tempted to get into this game….. 😉 Awesome live blog!
Thaat Chaos army wit the mammoth is just insanely good… wow
The minis and terrain is really cool, but it also really looks like a nice place with many cool people. I love this kind of events, especially if there’s a great community involved.
Great reporting as usual guys, I do like the armies and terrain setups. Can’t wait to catch up on the next instalment.
Great reporting, great tables, great terrain…. What more can we ask for. Well done
those tables look awesome
Thanks I plan to build a new table for our next event. Should be really different.
Awesome terrain and great painting, thanks!
Just goes to show AoS can work fine as long as you add some form of army selection rules and scenarios.
Always enjoy these live updates and it is especially cool to see AoS being played in a competitive environment. I look forward to more updates!
Having an awesome time with the event. This is everything I’ve been looking for in a war game.
Thanks! Was great having you there.
This makes me tempted to get a starter army and try some.
The terrain is pretty good. The blood god one is crazy gory. Who thought that Corn could be so vicious!! ..er… oh yea.. Khorne.
Good terrain always makes things look thematic and the above pics prove my point well.
The more I come back to see the progress during the day the more impressed I am with the staggering variation in the armies. I have never been a fan of Warhammer so when it went through the huge conversation into AoS it kind of passed me by. Seeing the huge amount of fun and character in these armies and the bizarre battlefields has actually made me wonder if I should give AoS a second look.
I know a few peeps at this. Wish I could have made it
Our next event is 11-4-16 Holy Wars: Holy Havoc, AoS Team Event.
Terrain and Scenarios look awesome.
Man I whish I coluld make terrain like that and had the space to store it.
Watching with jealousy from across the pond! Glad to see Holy Wars looks even better than last year – Steve, you’re the man.
Thanks! Maybe someday you’ll make the trip, we are having another event this year so you’ll have two chances to come play on our tables.
Tables and armies look fantastic. Great work, guys.
totally awesome
Some great looking terrain on those tables and the scenarios seem interesting.
It is nice to see some people getting in some game play with AoS. With all of the commentary on how AoS is ruining Fantasy, I like seeing people take up the game and running with it.
Love the XXXXXX Ale In Bugman’s Brewery! Fantastic looking terrain piece.
Wow! Those tables are amazing, I hope to have space to be able to have tables half as good domeday 🙂
Good to see some positive coverage for AoS It really sounds like good fun, though I can see where some players might get annoyed at the “winner could be determined by the last dice roll”. Still, makes me want to try it.
The terrain and mini painting looks simply smashing!
though AoS was met with some… a huge backlash, and certainly the ppl i know were very negative about the initial launch but i’ve watch them overtime slowly change their minds on the game and from the sounds of it they are having alot of fun with it, so much so that even i have been tempted to show up for AoS night to see what all the fuss is about. and it seems the same with this holywar tourney fun day, fun tables, great positive attitudes towards our hobby
We have been loving our time in the Age of Sigmar. Our hope is to grow our community in this new age and to keep pushing ourselves to deliver tables, terrain and scenarios our club The Holy Hammers get to play on all the time.
The tables and the armies look amazing.
looks good. some of that terrain is amazing
Those floating waterfalls look awesome.
Building this had inspired me to really push the limits for our next event.
I like the things they’ve done with the rules. With these minor tweaks AoS seems to work very well for competetive play.
I also like the displays and the armies. The players put a lot of effort into these. Great job by all of them 🙂
Amazing scenery and a great advocate for Age of Sigma. I suppose I’d better get my Lizzardmen painted.
Not the biggest AOS fan ( realy like to play with big armies 8th 6000 points), but still will give it a try if i win the prize.
I like the models that GW produce, not a big fan of rulessystem and the prizes of plastics.
Further more, the trick the try to play at GW “rules are free”, but we bring out every month a campaignbook for 50 euro, you do not need them, but the games becomes fun with it,!! i realy do not like.
I never played Warhammer so I will be interested to see if Age of Sigmar is for me.
Cleaning up some Gors as I read this. First time anything Warhammer Fantasy has made it onto the painting station in over a decade. Lot of inspiration in those forces, especially loving Adam’s Fen army and display board. Fantastic example right there!
I’m with you @dropship. I’ve been painting heaps of fantasy minis lately. I feel like I achieve much more painting these small forces I have as they don’t need as many models. I’ve currently got – Slaves to darkness, Fyreslayers, nurgle and even some Seraphon I’ve pulled out of storage.
Really enjoying the coverage. It is really great seeing people enjoying the game. Love the ogre oriental army… that has to win something. Whatever people say about the rules, the minis and terrain are top class
This is my kinda of tournament. It just looks like you’d have a great time. The scenario’s and different boards look great.
Even though I don’t play AOS, this looked like really good event. I liked the tournament pack, made the event a more balanced affair I suspect.
Awesome terrains, love them !
Great looking event
Been thinking about giving Age of Sigmar a go recently… Recently I haven’t had much time for gaming and AoS looks like it could be a fun game great for a couple of hours play. The new start collecting boxes are good value and have everything you need to play a quick game in which is brilliant, pick up a box paint it up and play some games. The Holy Wars event looks great some lovely looking tables and armies there.. I do hope now the initial feelings about AoS have subsided somewhat that people do give the game a chance as I think the hobby really needs a good fun game with minimal barriers to entry that is readily available to all…
Awesome event Steve, and great coverage.
Thanks buddy. I hope to see you at our next event this year Holy Havoc, AoS Team Event or at Holy Wars 2017.
Really great to see everyone having such a good time with AOS. Lots of hours of preparation by the players and organisers and a mighty fine event by the looks. Has been great fun being a part of it thanks the the girls and BOW.
Probably my favourite plog so far because of the sheer variety of miniatures and terrain on show here. Some of this is so beautiful! And such original armies! I think AOS allows for a much more varied look to minis and allows for greater customisation simply because the minis aren’t in ranks and there’s generally less of them. Also, never before has. Whf game allowed you to properly recreate battles like the ones in gotrek and Felix (except maybe mordheim) all skirmish and down to a much more personal level. With a lot more scope for story telling! Love it!
its great to see people playing aos instead of winging about it.
i have trouble convincing people to play firstly cos they’re too good for new rules and secondly cos my army is far from warhammer brand
those sound like reason TO play against you! creativity is the corner stone of wargaming!
Thanks :p I thought so too, ive yet to test my goblins out under the aos rules. from what ive read looks like im gonna get stomped every time
The Holy Hammers have been loving our time in the Age of Sigmar. We want to grow our community in this new age and to keep pushing ourselves to deliver tables, terrain and scenarios our club and the community.
One thing i really like AoS in a tournament setting is that the reduced model count really makes you look at what people are fielding, rather than just seeing blocks of troops and going meh too busy, cant be arsed to work out whats going on
Thanks for the AoS Tournament blog. I would like to see the “all videos in one option” next time.
Good job otherwise.
Thanks to The Holy Hammers for putting on an amazing event. I had a fantastic time!
Loved seeing you there and hanging out can’t wait to do it again in November!
The good news is….I can only improve on my standings in the next tournament! Hopefully a new army is in my future as well. This weekend has inspired me to look at GW hobbying again.
As an old-school Chaos Dwarf fanboy, I absolutely love the Legion of Azghor force.
I’m not seriously considering picking up a starter set for my son, so he can play against my own Chaos Dwarfs!
It was truly an amazing army. Peyton Shipman did FANTASTIC job I as very impressed by the level of brush control he has. Great work so very impressed.
Was initially quite dismissive of Age of Sigmar, mainly due to the perceived lack of structure, but this tournament has some very clever regulations that make a lot of sense. And it looks like it was a lot of fun. Think my head may be turned…
Give it a chance you have to look at it with an open mind and truly not hold on to the past. 🙂 It’s been great fun for The Holy Hammers.
Those are some really nice looking armies and terrain.
If anyone out there is thinking of giving AoS a try here is a quick list of the great GW ‘Start collecting’ boxes and what each one comes to in “pool comp points”
Greenskins – 5pts
Khorne – 3.5pts
Seraphon – 5.75pts
Nurgle – 5pts
Warriors – 6pts
Death – 5.5pts
So you’ll see most are pretty close and they are great mini forces you can use without having to add extra units to.
You’ll find the army builder at http://scrollbuilder.com/
Terrains are amasing ! Really awsome !
I had a blast at the event, thank you for the coverage.
The armies look beautiful. It’s really tempting to give the game a go.
Great tournament report! Thanks
