Just finished up some 40k Servitors from Wargame Exclusive – really nice resin casts with very little cleanup needed. I added the bolters and some of the claws so those additions arent quite up to scratch ^^.

Also added some spooky alien trees to rocky terrain I made years ago 🙂

Its late, light is bad but I found time to paint some green-flesh fade skin on my Norse Ugr regiment. Gonna do the skin on my Stalkers aswell and then do them all as a batch ?20200508_21561820200508_21562720200508_215638

Another OOP miniature from the 1997 Deadlands: Great Rail Wars game! Zenithal priming of brown over white, with random browns and greys. Figured I’d paint these miniatures while the Deadlands RPG KS is live. (: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/deadlands-the-weird-west?ref=discovery&term=deadlands

Finished up another squad for Blood & Valor and here’s some photos of the army to date. Other than adding a tank and a few specialty characters I think I’m done.

The figures are a mix of Great War Miniatures and Phalanx Consortium.

I used Vallejo Brown Violet for the helmets, Dark Flesh for the face and hands, Green Gray for the webbing, US Field Drab for the uniforms, US Dark Green for the entrenching tool handle, Flat Brown for the boots, holsters, rifle slings and chin straps, Mahogany Brown for the rifle stocks  and pistol grips. Black for the rifle barrels dry brushed with GW Eshin Grey. The bases are Army Painter Leather Brown. I then used GW Reikland Flesh shade on the face and hands followed by GW Seraphim Sepia on everything else. Finally I did a very light dry brush of Army Painter Skeleton Bone on the base and then all over the minis to bring out the details and make everyone look a little dusty and dirty.

This little lady was the one of the first minis I prepped when the Hasslefree Kickstart rewards arrived (eons ago), I immediately base coated her and then set her aside, unable to decide how to proceed.  Crippling indecision stemming from ridiculous over thinking is my shame and one I struggle to overcome on a daily basis. With that in mind I was determined to literally dust her off and finish what I had started.  Kev White sculpts such wonderful stuff that I always want to do them justice. A couple of sessions this week during our online RPGs and she is complete.  At the risk of sounding my own horn, I think she is more than table ready and one of my better efforts at faces.  The jaguar spots were actually fun as they are just dots really.

I wanted to try out some contrast paints and thought I reduce the pile of shame at the same time. These muscle-blood-skull-bros have been sat in the the AOS starter box attached to their sprue for what seemed like an eternity, so I thought why not slap some paint on and see if the contrast hype was really a thing. Apart from metallics and a wash, these are pretty 100% contrast only. They were a real rush job, with only a basic TT standard in mind. I’m pretty happy with the results. Contrast paints are another tool in the arsenal, but by no means a magic bullet.

I have not started a project for these yet, as I wanted to paint a few more models so I have a good basis for my project (I have to many projects on the go currently).

Being a lover of Call of Cthuhu RPG and anything else Lovecraftian I was immediately taken with the Mythos game, and when re-issued by Warcradle bought both the Priory and Hidden Ones boxed sets decided to paint Priory first as I knew these would be harder for me as this was not my favourite faction, with both the Hidden Ones and Wyldborne being my current favourites.

I am really pleased with how these have come out.

Back again with the start of another Chaos Unit…

As my Chaos Army is loosely based on a selection of cards from the ‘Chaos Marauders’ game, one of the units will be Chaos Dwarfs and Goblins!

Scarsol Smashskul, from the initial C16 Chaos Dwarf during 85/86 by the Perry Twins has seen his armour rust up in the 35 years or so waiting to be painted… is seen here with Blimblam Blimblamblamblom one of the 1987 C12 Goblin Javelinmen… Get the feeling they were running low of naming ideas at that point.
