A collaboration between Tajima Miniatures, Man O' Kent Games and Kosmo Miniatures brings a wonderfully weird and eldritch Sci-Fi 6mm wargame to Kickstarter. See what you make of the game and miniatures for Kosmo Taktiks!

Kosmo Taktiks - Tajima Miniatures

Kosmo Taktiks // Tajima Miniatures

Kosmo Taktiks comes from Glenn Ford, of Gaslands fame, and is designed as a small-scale wargame with simple rules, small armies and plenty of tactical decision-making. Kosmo Taktiks has been built for people who want a straightforward wargame that also allows for some decision-making and tactics at the tabletop. It's also expandable with supplements and more factions planned for later down the road.

The game works with 6mm-scale miniatures and is played on a 2x2 table. Players control armies ranging from about eight units to fifteen. So, not much for you to actually get down onto the tabletop!

Kosmo Taktiks Gameplay #1 - Tajima Miniatures

When it comes to gameplay, there are three Phases for you to focus on. Order, Activation and Clean-Up. In the Order phase, you will assign two Order Tokens to units face down. These could be movement based, attack based or maybe one of the faction-specific orders available to your units. When Order Tokens are used, they go into a spent pool and are limited in number each round. This means you need to be clever about where you use your orders and when.

Activations are then taken in alternating player order. One of the Order Tokens is revealed and spent on the action. As you might have guessed, you can move, shoot and fight in close combat with your armies, with Pin Tokens being added to units rather than immediately removing bases of miniatures from the battlefield. These Pin Tokens can be spent by the opposing player to make the activations of units less effective, which is neat.

In the Clean Up Phase, you will spend your Pin Tokens for different effects and then move or remove enemy units. You'll then check your objectives and see if you scored any victory points. One Order Token from a surviving unit is then returned to your token pool. It's important to note that destroying the enemy isn't the main aim of the game and there is a strong focus on controlling objectives and completing your scenarios.

The team behind the game hopes to have a Quickstart PDF available for you to check out in the near future so you can dive deeper into the rules for the game.

The Kickstarter also comes with some awesome miniatures for you to pick up for the different factions in the world of Kosmo Taktiks.

Star Order - Kosmo Taktiks

Star Order // Kosmo Taktiks

The Star Order are the rulers of the Kosmos and have enhanced themselves with cybernetics to make them deadly in combat. They are battling primarily against the Kosmo Initiative but also find themselves dealing with Scrapper raids and the conquering of the worlds of the Koven.

Talking of the Koven, they are our second faction.

Koven - Kosmo Taktiks

Koven // Kosmo Taktiks

The Koven empire spans countless worlds. They are a limitless legion of steel, commanded by the cold Direktive. They are a mysterious factor within the Kosmos and often find themselves pitted against the Myx, trying to keep their spread at bay. The Koven cannot be reasoned with and will crush you under their cold, metal boots!

Maybe you'll be drawn to the Scrappers?

Scrappers - Kosmo Taktiks

Scrappers // Kosmo Taktiks

The Scrappers came from seemingly nowhere and they do what they say on the tin. They scavenge from the battlefield and search the Kosmos for the mythical Final Scrap. The Scrap Bards lead gangs of scavengers, smugglers and raiders. They might sell you something but they are probably behind your back, taking something else off your ship. A cunning band of miscreants that can be quite the nuisance on the battlefield.

There is also the strange, alien force of the Myx.

Myx - Kosmo Taktiks

Myx // Kosmo Taktiks

The Myx are an ancient and predatory force within the Kosmos, waging a constant war against the Koven. They can corrupt worlds with a whisper and weedle their way deep into the heart of a civilisation before causing it to rip itself apart from the inside! A horde of, admittedly quite cute, monsters that will ruin your sleep worse than that cheese you had before bed.

Going back to a faction we mentioned earlier, we also have the Kosmo Initiative.

They consider themselves the great hope for the Kosmos and reject cybernetics and the ways of the Star Order. However, that hasn't stopped them from tinkering with genetic engineering in an aim to make humanity stronger, purer and free from machine dependence. They are also adept at "liberating" a colony, which might not go down so well with the local star systems. Rebels with a cause or just out for themselves?

Phew. Last but not least, we have the Mercs!

Mercs - Kosmo Taktiks

Mercs // Kosmo Taktiks

Need someone to fight for you and you've got the credits? That's where the Mercs come in. They'll do your dirty work and allow you to keep your fingerprints off whatever terrible plan you just enacted. The Mercs take many forms. They could be the grizzled Dverg or the strange Aliens. Each brings their own skills to the battlefield.

Diving into the game of Kosmos Taktiks, you'll need the Rules, one of the Factions above, two of their Token Sets and then all of the gubbins that wargamers will be familiar with (dice, measuring tool and markers for units).

Thankfully, all of the miniatures are available in a digital format through the Kickstarter as STL files, which have all been checked and pre-supported by the team. Physical miniatures will be made available next year from Tajima Miniatures alongside digital STL files via Kosmos Miniatures.

With all of that knowledge now in your noggin, could Kosmos Taktiks be for you?
