Ere we go: a brand new WAAAAGH!

About the Project
Back to Orks, I like the clan Bad Moons; this army is for me. Trukks to be bashed with a Taurox, a Rockgrinder, and the Battlewagon, with extra parts from the Dakkajet kit. Ghazghkull will be my own war boss in mega armour conversion. A Mork or Gorkanaut? Lots of mega armour. A jet! Battle wagon from the Necromunda hauler kit. As the books said once: ‘ERE WE GO!

All together now …
A group shot of the trukk-trakk with the boyz mob.
This shows the colour scheme is unified across the burgeoning army now, and gives me a place to work from for the next units.
Da first mob
FINALLY finished the first mob. Struggled in so many places – primer, using contrast paints, NMM; it’s different painting for myself than commission as I have all year, but overall I’m happy with the mob. Mild conversions of the nob using the “new”GW boyz kit (it’s near useless, all monopose single assembly), and I’m not 100% on the basing yet, but they’ll do for now.
WIP Orks
Following the reprime, got the skin done on this mob of twelve Orks.
Formula:
AK Greenskin Punch
AK Lizard Green
GW Contrast Ork Flesh
AK Deep Green / AK Luminous Green 1:1
AK Luminous Green
Bit of work, but I think the skin came up well.
Orks are now being redone …
Don’t like the approach I took with the Orks, with the light primer, so they got reprimed and restarted. A rare fail out of the gate as I’ve painted more Orks than anything.
First Orks mob
I bought three boxes of the “new Orks” and one box of the “old Orks”. Upon opening the new ones, I discovered GW has made them all puzzle-piece monopose style. Ugh. Immediately hunted down three more boxes of the old better Orks. Good news, some of the parts of the new kits can be cut out and used to convert. Still, massive waste of money on three kits.
Da finished trukk-trakk!
And here is the finished trukk-trakk!
Ork driver and gunner, with a dead Astra guardsman trophy riding for company up front.
Yellow!
Using Imperial Fist Yellow contrast as a glaze, over German Dunkelgelb. The trukk-trakk is now yellow.
Ready for real colour
Over the special brown primer, I blotched on IJA Parched Grass. Then, for rusty areas, Red Brown. Added a custom grey-white for steel not rusted or common wear areas. All Vallejo primers.
Space Wolves Grey contrast wash for inside of box and ball and chain, plus engine block.
Agrax shade for rest of the trukk-trakk.
Waiting for the stuff to dry now …
